How To Start Playback From Previous Point?
Hello everyone,
I've just downloaded Winamp after using iTunes for some time and I'm wondering if there's a feature that allows you to playback a song from a point that it was previously stopped at. This was an option when editing an audio file in iTunes and I cannot find it within Winamp. I appreciate it! |

Hi mnw,
I guess you are looking for more than the built-in play/pause button(s). I suggest you look through the general purpose plug-ins on the main site. There are a few that let you make a bookmark within a track, like "Amarok". http://www.winamp.com/plugin/amarok-plugin-v1-2/22630 There are some that let you make A-B playback loops within a track, like "Loop Master Musicians Tool" http://www.winamp.com/plugin/loop-ma...ans-tool/30749 DrO has written a plug-in that can restore the play state and position of the selected track between shutdowns and restarts of Winamp. http://nunzioweb.com/daz/timerestore.html Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit SP1, WA Pro 5.7.0.3392 beta, cPro MPxi_remix skin, 5.1 speaker system |

Ok thanks Aminifu! This doesn't look exactly like what I wanted but it sure will help. Also, to clarify my original post, this feature was automatically activated on podcasts on iTunes that I subscribed to that were DJ mixes. That might be useful in figuring out what exactly I'm trying find.

I have not used iTunes for quite some time and am not fully aware of it's current features. I suggest you browse WA's help documentation for info on how to use WA's native bookmarking feature.

go to... preferences -> media library -> history -> check "Enable 'Resume Playback' control for podcasts" (the files generally need to be in the library for it to work properly from what i remember of the feature).

Thanks very much DrO, that's almost perfect! One other question: how does Winamp determine if a file is a podcast? Will it be able to recognize podcast files that I download through iTunes?

i think it's based on the genre of the file or if it was downloaded via the podcast support in Winamp and flagged as a podcast when added to the database though i'm not 100% sure if just having 'podcast' as the genre will work (am unable to check the source code at this time).
