the semicolon { ; } is for the sc to start streaming without "asking questions"

To expand upon what was previously posted, the semicolon in the configuration serves no purpose other than to be placed at the beginning of a configuration line to cause that configuration line to become rendered impotent. It effectively turns the line into what is known as a comment line.

I don't think he was asking about config file setting ... "start streaming without asking questions" suggests he wants a link that WONT ask you what you want to do with it (click a .pls link, and most browsers ask what you want to do with it ... it's a browser setting, nothing you can do to override a persons browser configuration)

Ah, I thought he meant about it asking questions to select a config file when it's started although now that I think about it, that makes less sense.

i've taken it as being the old /; hack to get streams playing thing. really just providing the raw link from the pls file would be what's wanted.
and of cource for SC2, it's http://mystream.com:8000/listen.pls?sid=# and not what was posted in the starting post. -daz |

if you are using the playlist file, there is no need for the /; hack - that is only needed for the raw stream url e.g. http://mystream.com:8000/; to play the stream. playlists do not need the semi-colon as that will generally prevent them from being recognised correctly.
to access the playlist for stream #1 with the current version of the DNAS, you need to access it as http://mystream.com:8000/listen.pls?sid=# trying to access it just as http://mystream.com:8000/listen.pls or http://mystream.com:8000/stream1/listen.pls will not work (the first will be allowed to work in the next DNAS update, the second is only possible if you set streampath=/stream1/listen.pls in the config file). but for the moment, to access a v2 listen.pls, you need to specify the stream id e.g. http://mystream.com:8000/listen.pls?sid=# where # is the number of the stream (as is the case for most things with the v2 DNAS). with the v1 DNAS, http://mystream.com:8000/listen.pls is all that you need to provide for that. -daz |
