Fake listener counts
Who do I contact to report a station I highly suspect of using bots or scripts to fake their listener counts? I find it appalling that a stream that has been shut down for months can suddenly appear with several listeners all clustered in Germany.

"highly suspect" != proof

i'm assuming this is all referring to http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....57#post2938757
like jaromanda says, suspect is not proof and if this was a stream address used by another station and then moved to something else, either it's old bookmarks to the stream still being attempted (either from actual users or bots, etc) or it could just be legitimate new listeners on a new stream. as there is nothing stopping hosting providers, etc allowing for the re-use of existing IP addresses (it happens quite a lot from what i've seen). and really there's not much that can be done to determine if listeners are true or not without looking at the actual network traffic and logs from the DNAS. |
