Well, as someone close to the business world:

1. Winamp is the most popular player on earth, and therefore people will like gimmicks that has something to do with WInamp.

2. Winamp skins is the smallest and the easiest to convert skins format on earth; and therefore it is easy to make a Winamp2anything skin converter.

Why?

Let's compare Winamp skins and Sonique skins (I'm a skinner for both Sonique and Winamp myself);

Winamp skins are made of:

1. Bitmap files - bits of images to make up into a skin.
2. Config txt - text files to configure Winamp to suit the skin.
3. Regions txt (optional) - transparency generator.
4. Skinned cursor files (optional) - changes the mouse cursors according to skin.

Sonique skins, however are made of:

1. Texture bitmaps - bitmaps to make the see-able parts of the Sonique interface.
2. Mask bitmap - works with the data file to create freeform-ness, transparency and locate buttons.
3. Animation bitmaps (optional) - for animating animated parts of the skin.
4. Buttons bitmaps - for the buttons on the skin.
5. data file - animation scripts, transparency, button location.
6. config file - configures Sonique to suit the skin.

BIG difference.

heh. X11AMP rocks but it functions much differently.

Keep in mind Linux software is usually a knock-off of Windows software. (just not as good. It's usually several generations behind and missing features) Hell, Linux was born as a knock-off and has continued to be ever since.

blah. I am so sick of the Linux community. Who wants to bet that SOMEONE comes in this post and boasts about how Linux is the best?

I am not l33t. I just make a living with my 'puter.

all work and no play makes jack a dull boy

Linux is the best... none of the OS's are...

It's all about personal taste. Each one has certain things that are better then others, but in the end, it's just about what you like. The best thing about Linux is it's Free and very stable. Best thing about Windows is everyone uses it. Best thing about Mac is it's very easy to use and is leading the way in OS development.

The only reason I use Windows is cause I always have. I'd rather use Linux and help stop Microsoft's monopoly on the market. But I'm too lazy That's why Microcrap is still #1. I am too blame.

Peace

It asks me for my name and password and then I press submit, and then it goes to the same page again asking me for my name and password again. It says I am not logged in or I do not have permission to edit this. grrrr >

But a Winamp skin devver STRIKES BACK!! }:]

Look at this. This is a shot of XMMS.

Now look at this Winamp skin.

Coincidence? I think not.
Fusion AMPdeck SE... it's good.

Or how about an XMMS skin rip?

Have a search for Fusion and XMMS on Skins/Plugins. You'll find some interesting stuff...
