A few random thoughts:

I think it's quite a bit faster.. pretty cool. Ads are mildly annoying. It's messed with some of the fonts for the whole winamp website. I like the many-windows-in-one dealie. Lots of options I'll need to tweak.. Wish it had imported my IE history (not critical - although it might even have a feature for this). All around, it's obviously a much better, although more complicated, browser than IE.

I decided to try it out because.. IE's seriously been annoying me lately. After clicking on a link, it will continue to display "Done" in the status bar.. but will show a hourglass if you hold the cursor over the non-content part of IE. When it does this, (almost every link I click on) it will take an outrageously long time before it even sends/receives any data. (Obviously not my connection.)

I think I'm sold.

Think I'm gonna go look for a minus-the-ads version though...

ugh...

I don't like the way the new forum handles emails... *sigh*

I guess it's better than nothing though.

registering, ease thereof

I had originally assumed without looking that there were two seperate downloads - one for the free version and one for the the non-ads version. Was surprised when I searched astalivista and got hits for keygens...

And yes yes.. I know, Chev. That's what I meant.

Update: Damn I like Opera. It's just getting better and better and better and better. (although I'm still kinda annoyed with how it's messing with some of the fonts on Winamp.com)

IMO the new email system is screwing up. I tried to send myself an email from a "Junior Member" account I created, and I'm still waiting for the email to arrive in my Inbox. The emails aren't sent to a web-based Inbox are they?

At any rate, FLynnz, it sounds like you got what you were after. If not, email me.

There IS an IE/Netscape favourites import feature. Keep tweaking, and you'll discover a goldmine of net browsing yumminess

RM.. I said history. (But I don't really care.) I haven't looked at all the features related to the "Hotlist" and bookmarks yet.

Opera's got soooooooooooooooooooo many awesome extra features.. It's just crazy. I'm reeeeeaaallly excited!

I am kinda annoyed with a couple things at the moment though: Go!Zilla unsurprisingly doesn't automatically catch links from Opera; there doesn't appear to be a version of Flash that works with Opera. I assume this will be the case with other plugins as well.

All in all, thanks a lot for originally mentioning Opera, RM. That was what made me think about it semi-seriously.

I've got a bitch.

The way Opera handles check boxes really, really sucks.

Heh.. what'd you think I meant?

[Edit: Wait wait.. one more. The main page of Bart Klepka's site is pretty messed up (in Opera only). It's also kind of annoying how Opera doesn't seem to apply centering code (ie: the ads at the top of that or winamp.com pages) until the page has loaded.]

I had a big bad post, but it was kinda dependent on me uploading some files to my 50g account, which I - for some reason - can't do.

Ya, i would of never guessed it was "opera.com" How the hell did they come up with that one right? I would of thought it would of been "www.thisnotinternetexplorer,youknowthatcrappybrowserfrommicrosoft.com" But you know, you could go to the KeyGen Studio and get the keygen for opera 4.x and it works for 5.0. I used it, but I also bought a real serial from opera incase they changed the system later. Anywayz, anyone wanting to kill the ads.. go here:

[EDIT: Please don't link to warez stuff. Use your email address instead. -jaz]

It wouldn't work when i tried to go there, but thats because my dsl keeps loosing synch. Like iomegajaz said, Email me and I'll hook you up. That's if you cant get to the site, or if you dont get "it" from iomegajaz

kind of a related question

I use Opera and IE5 concurrently, and I have never gotten mp3 streams correctly from mp3.com using opera. I've checked opera's file associations, and it says winamp will come up with the m3u files, but it never does. and mp3.com doesn't offer support for opera. any help?

I dun know, usually it tries to download and save m3u files to disk for me. Maybe thats what your doing, or rather what it's doing for you. Did you choose to open file from location rather than save to disk? Maybe you should do the opposite if you did, then open it from wherever you saved it.
