"Keep HDD Awake" Plugin for Winamp

The "Keep HDD Awake" plugin for Winamp is aimed to keep hard disk drives (HDD) running, i.e. not going to sleep, while Winamp is running. This may be come in handy in case you've distributed your media data across several HDDs where it may happen that one HDD is going to sleep while Winamp is playing from another. In case this happens, there may be a huge delay in playing the next track when Winamp switches to the sleeping HDD. The purpose of the "Keep HDD Awake" plugin is to avoid such delays.

Assume you've configured a long interval, e.g. 32 min. When changing to a shorter interval, e.g. back to 8 min, you may want the timer to be killed immediately. I couldn't figure out how to do this with Timer Queues.

Fortunately I came across the article at http://www.virtualdub.org/blog/pivot/entry.php?id=272 discussing the two APIs and advocating Waitable Timer Objects.

As it finally turned out, using Waitable Timer Objects I was able to solve the above problem.
