new skin, carry on or trash?

Here's the start of a new skin i've been playing around with, not sure if I should carry it on or not. It dosn't exist outside of a PSP file at the minute, so there is no download link available,and it's also missing a lot of controls. The .jpg file kills most of the image, but I thought I'd give it a whirl, see what people think. The images shows everything in a "active" position, this is not how I'm seeing the end result to be if I finish it. The gray border is just used for offset reasons.
Anyhow here it is, comments if you please

Except for the name, there isn't much about the skin that says "horror". I suggest modifying the font (classic horror look) you used for the titles. And change it from that garish/clashing red.

Unless you're trying to create a Halloween skin. In that case, Tangerine doesn't say Halloween to me.

In summary: keep the base lines and tangerine color you have going. Keep the "scream" name/idea but convert it from scary to "in-your-face energy screamin' bright". I'd like to see how you can contrast that feel with the straight lines set down so far.

Ya know somethin'? Before I read Cappy's post, I was gonna say I love the font. And I suppose I still will. Yes, I will. I really love that font. Maybe it is the red color that is the hangup, Cappy? I dunno. I even like the red color.

I also love the way you've defined the buttons in the Playlist, specifically the list button.

My only suggestion so far having looked at this screenshot is maybe to put a tad more thot into those cbuttons. Maybe create a beveled plateau that they'd sit atop and shrink them down a bit ... or (and this may be a bit much but just a thot) make each cbutton an outlined bevel like the outline bevel you have snaking through the entire skin. Perhaps bevel those "x" buttons too instead of making em big black dots.

Oh, and just curious, but what's going on with the playlist title tile? Is it yellowish orange for a reason?

Keep going Mr Jones. I can't wait to see the finished product of that EQ. I don't have any orange winamp skins yet ... let alone a Screamin' Tangerine! Would love to add it to my collection. Kinda reminds me of those jumpsuits the Rebel Pilots wear. Kewl!

I'm asuming you mean, whats with the yellow blocks on the playlist window?, there only there as guides at the minute,as to where those big streching bits will be on the finished skin, rest assured they will change in time.


The font was one of those "oh i like that things", the acctual colour of it isn't so red on the bitmap, its the same background orange, but multiplied up some what to bring it off the background, maybe the .jpg screwing it up.
I do have a more "'70" stlye font I was thinging of using, as the tasteful decor of the 70s has been my inspiration for this so far.

Buttons, not sure what to do with them yet, was looking for a clear functional layout originaly, to many skins with to many hidden buttons.
Still plenty of time yet for work to be done on this.

This is nice...I like all of the beveling effects. Very different. I think Duk's idea to bevel the button symbols would add alot of 'character' to this. I like the font too

I am always thinking, there aren't enough orange and yellow skins out there. I like this one. Good job.

Only thing is that the EQ bars look kinda empty, like something should be there. Great skin, though.

I like the new font much better. Stick with the '70s inspiration. The red color looks good now, whether you changed it or the jpg.

cbuttons: they're looking pretty good. Maybe break out the shuffle/repeat buttons so there isn't one big long run there...?

I've been working on it some more today, got most of the buttons down in a pressed/unpressed state, just looking for some inspiration for the eq buttons, the auto, presets etc.

I'll probably start to carve up the image this week, maybe tommorow, work permitting

I've also toned down the red a little,more yellowy red now, gonna try it out on the monitor at work tommorow, the laptop at home always makes things look a bit brighter to me.

Anyhows, keep watching for the download link.

M'kay,
Started to chop up the image,and wrap the skin, so to speak.
Still lots to do, but it's a start.

Again, the .jpg has killed most of the image, but whats a fella to do.
To do list...
AVS, MB, Mikro, playlist stack buttons, posbar sliders, Numbers,EQ vis, EQ buttons, blah blah blah lol, the list goes on.

Hope to have a download link up by Wed/Thurs.
