Auto Mixer between songs

How about a smooth, user defined length, mix between songs. A sharp cut is not easy on the ears and a nice slow transition between songs would make auto listening a blessing.

I'm not sure I understand. Do you mean a fade into silence, then a fade in on the next song? Or were you suggesting more of a crossfade -> one song fades into the beginning of the next? (i.e. the tracks actually overlap)

There is actually a plug-in that can do that (crossfading) for writing CD's, but I believe it needs an output directory and rewrites the files, so it won't work as just a player - it's great for DJ-style CD's though(no dead air).

I've also read on other posts (thanks Kaboon) that Winamp 3.00 will have a crossfader. Hope that's encouraging

Pretty good actually, its my preferred choice although its not very customisable.

Or there's the 'SqrSoft advanced crossfading output':

This one is probably more flexible but I couldn't get it to work nicely.

I don't know how will the crossfader/gapless (builtin) routins work in the final version of WA3, but would have some idea how should them work.
(If there is to late to build them into WA3, then maybe later versions could contain.)

So I thought, the prefs should contain two separate options, xfade/gapl. on autoskip and the same on manual skip.

By default I would set the gapless out in the 1st case, 'cos tracks often ends with fade, and in other hand live-albums needs also the same.

In the 2nd case I'd set crossfade by default. For my ears more pleasant to hear a smooth xfade between tracks, than a sharp changing.

At last sorry about my mistakes, I don't use to write too often in English.

I agree, Winamp needs a crossfader that WORKS and is easy to config, it could be set so the user can select it from say the equalizer section, just a simple on or off switch...i'm also using justin's plugin, which is pretty damn good, with a few small minor probs, (like messing up the winamp display) but it fades perfectly to my liking, therefore i dont need to play around with it, just install and select it, then hit play

i would use that one for now, until the future releases of winamp unfold.

I think that the crossfading feature in winamp 3 alpha 4 works pretty good, are you saying it needs to be improved in some way?

I'm not sure what Winamp 3 Alpha 4 is like, but Justin's plugin is what I'm saying needs an update, because it's a brilliant plug-in with just a few bugs, like it messes up the display on Winamp or sometimes mp3s do not play after you stop one and start another, for example. I heard the Alpha release of Winamp 3 was full of bugs, so I haven't bothered to download it.

You should try winamp 3 alpha 4. Its is defnitly stable enough to use now, and the cross-fading feature is pretty smooth stuff. It isn't cutomizable, but it probably works like you want it to anyway.

You should try winamp 3 alpha 4. Its is defnitly stable enough to use now, and the cross-fading feature is pretty smooth stuff. It isn't cutomizable, but it probably works like you want it to anyway.

I think I'll stick with upgrading as each new v2 comes out, until it's officially released, but thanks anyway
