Hello!
Company 4Front Tecnologies has released new cool 3D stereo enhancement plugin. I personally think, this one is the best. Demo version and full description is available on http://www.oss3d.com I have posted this plugin to "plugin" section, but seems, it doesn't want appear there... :] So use http://www.oss3d.com to access. Full version (costs $10) has much more amazing features, which can really really enhance your sound. I have downloaded most of DSP plugins... They all ruin the sound, while OSS/3D doesn't... If the overload occurs during very heavy crazy effect usage (if extremal settings are used, etc...), I simply lower "preAmp" slider and have the normal sound back. Demo version contains only ONE 3D stereo expanding effect, while full version contains FOUR. Anyway, even the demo is better than those DSP effects are available ![]() Download and test, and perhaps you'll be the fan too Note, that OSS/3D works with stereo sound only, and the best effect is gained with default settings on standard music styles (hardcore, punkrock fans may have to change settings a bit). Thanks, George. |

Thanks
thanks for the link but that plugin is a totall crap.
I tried only the demo, the 3d effect is exactly the same than the one DEE.. I won't pay a cent for that thing... DEE is free and better. oh, did I forget to tell you that oss crashes in some condition ? pay and crash, cool ! |

OSS3D
Must be your system crappy, not plugin. It depends on some of Microsoft libraries, which are perhaps damaged on your system. I saw this happening with lots of programs (like SoundForge, GetRight, etc...), which drop out very frequently, if system files are damaged. This is possible due to other WinAmp plugin, which uses the same type of lib, but has included different version with its own.
You are not required to pay for anything, like me, like any other person... I simply got full version of this plugin and have tested a couple of other plugins. I think, that OSS/3D gives the best 3D stereo expansion while not runining the sound. One thing I found definitely, that this plugin doesn't always work correctly with hard-styles of music (hardrock, hardcore, punkrock, etc.). But while I listen mostly to oldies and pop, it fits perfectly. See, what other guys say about this technology. It's 100% free for Linux operating system. http://nsys.by/~mmts/pmpro |

DEE... What is this?
Hi!
What's DEE plugin? I know these following plugins (listed below). If you tell me, that something sounds better than OSS/3D, then I'll report it to OSS/3D maintainers and new version of OSS/3D will sound better than what you said. OSS/3D - expands sound correctly SRS WOW - ruins high frequency and partially kills singer's voice (meaning, center position) QSound - is just fine, but is commercial (while OSS/3D demo doing the same for free) and doesn't support additional types of expansion those options in OSS/3D commercial DFX - The stereo enhancement is a little bit "metallic" on MP3 files and is not percepted well. OSS/3D's commercial option "extSpace" gives more power. Spatializer - nice-made technology. OSS/3D's commercial option "extFX" isn't working worse. Perception is almost the same. |

P.S.
Also reviewed WaveArts' WaveSurround, and that one with 4 floating speakers.
Seems, they both use some strange lo-quality recorded measurements for signal processing, so after enabling those plugins something strange is happening with high frequencies and some mid-range frequencies get out of phase, which causes them to interferent and simply disappear, or boost randomly... Download some pre-recorded demos from http://www.oss3d.com page "DEMO" section and see, whether you are using right settings for OSS/3D (before playing them back, turn all effects off - they already have them applied inside). Note, that if you have improrerly phased speakers, you won't hear right result anyway with any type of stereo enhancement... in this case, you may tray "invert phase" switch in OSS/3D DEMO config last pane. http://nsys.by/~mmts/pmpro - this is what people say about full version of OSS/3D (formerly QuiXound), made free for Linux and as low as $10 for Windows (Others are still more expensive) Note, that OSS/3D is reported not to work with some damaged installations of NT4 and W2k. But this is rare, that's why you have DEMO to test it out. |

FIRST:
MY SYSTEM WORKS GREAT !
(I actually use getright and soundforge and "..." everyday..) oss crashes when I try to access its setting on MuchFX.. DEE is still the numero uno WOWthing has the best bass boost, if you would like more high frequencies then try using it with DFX or Dee... DFX is not free but still worths it. dee: http://www.maroc.net/adil/dee_dsp.dll (sorry no time to look for the text files in my plug directory..) |

The official URL for Dee is http://dee.mp3.ms
As far as testing OSS, no way for me since it's crippleware, which goes against Winamp's philosophy. |

3D Stereo Enhancement
I've used quite a few of these, and really, they're all a bit poor.
Nothing beats a decent speaker set up. Why spend money on a software DSP that just accentuates audio that isn't in the "centre," when you can buy some decent speakers? Hmm... An EAX plugin would be nice though. |

Well, I use 4-speaker configuration. They are set up like two in front and two behind. Left and right sided are empty.(my room won't allow placing speakers there - otherwise it would be impossible to walk in the room)
With the plugin, left and right sides are filled just fine. About enhancing non-center: OSS/3D plugin has an option to enhance everything, incl. center - by moving center to surround... ![]() With OSS/3D LP Demo and my 4-speaker setup (rear speakers simply duplicating front ones) I can't even say where the sound comes from (from speakers, of course, but it doesn't seem like that) |
