Don't tell me that in this new version of winamp you've made winamp playlists search the hard drive for missing links. I have a playlist with 900 entries... 850 of these are on cds that i seldom have in the cd rom drive.. 50 are on the hard drive..
CAN YOU GUESS MY PROBLEM! Well if you can't: IT TAKES ME ABOUT 1minute for winamp to play one of my fucking files as it searches for files that.. ARE NOT THERE. FIX THIS IMMEDIATELY! |

Moon him all you want, but the guy's got a point. That is a problem... I just don't know there's a way to solve it. I know I had the problem in earlier versions of wa (< wa2.50) but now I use wa 2.65 and it works fine. He nicely skips songs with "broken links". I don't know whether Bremmario is talking 'bout wa 3 (alpha goddamnit
) or 2.75 though, so I can't help you

Just checked whether Bremmario has reported this bug in the Bug Report forum, and found he indeed has done so: http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=49082
But that was the exact same bitchy flaming material as was posted here... ...Which brings me to my question: If I find a bug that really sucks, should I simultaneously post a formal report in the Bug Report forum and a bitching thread in this forum? Would that count as cross-posting? |

And if bremmario really feels like bitching about this, he should. I also don't think his post was so flamy as you guys were saying. |

Also crossposted in TechGen
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=49081 He calls us idiots there & stupid bastards here . . . but these lewd terms would only apply to someone who doesn't know how to set the read/sort options in Prefs -> Options (Winamp 2.7x)

Call me what you will however I will set a few things straight. I have respect for the creators of winamp however the problem I have brought into the lime light is a problem that should have been avoided by a reasoning being. I downloaded the new version of winamp.. The one that was released yesterday.. I think it was 2.75..
I am far from illiterate, studying 3 unit english and achieving results well in the top 10% of my state. The reason I was so 'loud' in my opinion is because this is a bitchlist and I wish to try and get this problem resolved in a new version of winamp quite soon as my pc cannot handle this constant searching for missing mp3s. |

Solution?
Is there a solution to my problem that will avoid bloodshed?
I have perused all of the available options in options>preferences and after reading all of the roll over help that seemed likely in any way shape or form to influence this broken link related problem I have concluded that DJEgg is misinformed or.. insane. I would like to draw attention to Phiserman's signature and relate it to the context of the events that have taken place in this thread. If you are too lazy to search out phiserman's post as I know many of you are (myself included) then here it is: ""When a true genius comes into the world, you will know him by this sign: All the dunces are in confederacy against him."-Johnathan Swift"-Phisherman |

I can read...
I don't have many problems with winamp... maybe some web realted plugins... but not winamp. It can play mp3s and make e'm sound good... It however now includes AVS (Annoying Vis. Shit) ... And AOL did it all... why?! ... stupid gays, they have to make up AOL and those tree huggers who support it.... (all my topics summed to one) And yes, Chev is my SPECIAL (super-duper) friend. He just loves me.... just like tyler durden loves those creit card companies... |

Sort files on load = unchecked If you can't work that out, or if it still causes problems, maybe you can work out how to make individual playlists for individual CD's, and a seperate playlist for files on your HDD. Besides, 1) I don't see the point of adding CD Audio trax to an already existing playlist when you can only play one CD at a time (unless you've got multiple cd-rom drives hooked up?) 2) The local cddb info for CD's loads automatically when you insert the cd (if Winamp is your default player) or when you use the Play -> Audio CD command. Now, if you ripped the trax into MP3 format and saved them to your HDD, this would be an entirely different matter. But hey, what would I know, I'm just some insane nobody who obviously knows jackshit!

Uhm..
Sort on load was never checked.
I have multiple cd drives.. 1 burner, 1 normal. My hd is too small for 3/4 cds worth of mp3s.... |

AOL... the only people unfortunate enough to be more stupid than them are the people who get their computers through their plans and blindly use their browser software as if it's best thing ever written.
Saaaaay... watadoo, is this a good time to ask to be a mod?

Well it sounded good. Anyone out there thinking of downloading it... don't.
Nice idea but very poorly done, it'll have you ripping your hair out in no time. |
