I am getting a kernell32.dll error message (see verbatim below of message) when I run winamp (2.75) with a Windows ME operating sysytem. This message happens AFTER I close all programs and try to "shut down" or "restart" my computer.
I have installed/uninstalled repeatedly to no avail. Has this happened to anyone else? Is this something that cannot be fixed, forcing me to change Mp3 players (this is not a good option)? What can I do? I have called my computer manufacturer and they walked me through a bunch of tests, the problem seems to be pointing in Winamps direction. Help?!. As I write this message I am testing other players for the same error message. PS, does winamp sell t-shirts? ======================= Error Message: Winampa has caused an error in Kernell.dll. Winampa will now close. Restart your computer to fix..... ======================= |

It's a WinAMP Agent problem.
In WinAMP, hold Ctrl and press P. Go to the Setup -> Agent section. Uncheck all the boxes. Close the window and then close WinAMP and restart your computer. Winamp agent will not bother you on shutdown (or any other time for that matter) anymore. |

Thank god I do not have to switch mp3 players. "'Lo Tom, What's the rumpus?" |
