Hi all,

Geiss robbed me of a childhood and I want AVS to rob me of an adulthood as well, but my computer can't run it at anything close to respectable speeds/size. ...This is something I really need to fix.

I'm currently running a Celeron400 w/RIVA128 video card; and am wondering what I'd need to get decent framerates out of AVS at 800x600 fullscreen.

Thanks crew,
JB

PS - If anyone's feeling especially helpful, estimates on framerates of:

Athlon 1.2 w/GF2MX-32MB
P4 1.3w/GF2MX-32MB
Duron850w/GF2MX-32MB

would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again.

Without pixel doubling, you'll never get a good framerate at that res. My preset was running about 9 fps without pixel doubling, but around 25 with pixel doubling. P3 1 GHz w/ 128 MB RAM

Other presets:

My slowest one:
w/o pixel doubling, 5.5 fps
w/ pixel doubling, 16 fps

My fastest one:
w/o pixel doubling, 29 fps
w/ pixel doubling, 72 fps (Dot ocsilliscope w/ clear after every frame)

Are you sure RAM and CPU is all that's needed?
Because i get a sluggish frame rate at 800x600_32bpp and i'm running on a dual 550MHz and 512Mb, with 380Mb allocated for graphics...

I'm a new user of AVS, is there a 'simple' way to tune the presets?
Thanks

Switch of the wait for retrace in the full-screen options, in case you didn't do so already. it's speeds up AVS even more but I think 800x600 still will be too much, but 640x480 must possible I guess.
