What OS are you on? If Windows is the server and source on the same machine? Is it pretty consistent or does it gradually get worse?

I am using Windows 98 SE and it all runs fine but it just laggs for like 3 seconds at a time every now and then, but If I use the old v1.6.0rc2 it'll work fine no skips, but I know better performance comes from the 1.8.0 so I would like help in how to resolve this. It works fine on Win2k Professional. that was my old OS but I have to use Win98 SE for the time being and it now doesn't work.

I sometimes have the same problem.

Do you have the Microsoft Net Show tools??? If not, then I suggest you download it.

+ Who hosts your stream (What server?)? Do you or a free one like Live365.com???

heheh, don't worry I'm no fool...I A) know that I need an Mp3 Stream codec such as the Fraunhoffer II Professional Codec...which I have lol and B) I wouldn't need it as I can go to 56k without it and thats all i'm streaming. SHAW Cable is Hosting it not another company....as it is a rip off to have them host it when I gain nothing in return. And plus the whole server including v1.8.0 Works fine with Win2k.... It's just having problems with Win98 SE and God only knows it's probably Microsoft lol. But maybe Tom can work it out.
PEACE

Now my only suggestion to you is that your server is configurered wrong or your internet access is causing it to skip. Cable sometimes does that. If you are the maindecision maker in your house and you are within the proper area, my suggestion to you is that you get a Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and possibly put more overtime in at work. If you are NOT the main decision maker, then lobby like hell for it. That way you can host your own server on your computer, just get (I Think) ADSL (Asymmetric DSL) Which offers same upload as download, which is perfect for servers. If not, Go for a Free hoster like Live365.com . It offers multiple streaming for Real Player and Media Player.

Was your sc_serv.ini new on the install of 1.8.0 or was it a carry over from 1.6.0rc2? In 1.8.0 I haven't heard of any sleep issues, well at least not under Windows. It seems odd that 1.6.0rc2 works but 1.8.0 doesn't. Because of this I do not think your codec nor internet connection are at fault since they remain constant and only the server change creates this behavior. Try a fresh install and make sure the sc_serv.ini is new and only change the password, port (if you want) and max listener and see if that changes anything.

Ok as to DuaneJeffers, I know alot about computers...lol and I do not set it up wrong...I simply copy the 1.8.0 sc_serv.ini from my win2k machine as it will not change anything and then paste on my Win98 machine. Now after that didn't work I fresh install then recreated...and did what Tom said and it still didn't work thats when I went to 1.6.0rc2. As for your Internet solution...Cable is faster than DSL but you have to share within your area. As no-one in my area is on my cable I get 600k/sec. Now sure DSL is dedicated but I have no problems with my Cable and it's not my Internet connection or my configuration.

Well Tom...Looks like my Firewall (Norton Personal Fireall 2001 v2.5) was the problem...After it created all the rules for v1.6.0rc2 When I used my 1.8.0 it worked so I guess v1.6.0rc2 was more thourough or something...Well if it plays up any more It just started working so it may stop heheh...I'll msg back
thnx anyway
