why does winamp absorb my system recourses like a sponge while im using a browser? i cant listen to music when am on the net coz winamp drains the system recourses which makes my pc slow and crash in the end..

i have a laptop, might that have anything to do with it???

Dunno Lynx, Winamp has never ever been a resource hog on any machine I've run, even runs sweet on my old 133 mhz dell laptop, no problemo.

Currently on my Dell that I use now, running at 633mhz PII I've got open winamp, (playing) , Opera with 4 pages open, ICQ running, AIM, FTP'ing files over to the web, paintshop pros is open, and various other system tray apps, and all is ticking along nicely.

The only thing that might be sucking resource is PSP, this has some severe memory leaks and can cause system lagging even after you've turned it off, even my stinkpad laptop slows right up after a good PSP session and thats running something like 1ghz mobile PIII

Haven't been in PSP this morning have you?

No problems for me....just in PSP when pasting big selections, winamp tends to skip...that's all.
