HELP! Can't get backup feature to work on shoutcast server

Hi. I am desperatly trying to get the backup feature to work on my shoutcast server.

The SC_SERV.INI file specifies that Autodump users must be set to 0.. and it is. It also specifies that "MUST be the same samplerate/channels as the live stream in order for this to work". This is where I think my problem is. I went into my audio editor and saved the file as a 40kbps, 22khz file. Then I streamed for a while at that format and then when I disconnected the backup didn't kick in.

Q: If I start my server.. and havn't streamed anthing through it yet.. and someone connects.. how will the server know what the last samplerate/channels the last stream had in order for it to make the backup feature work?

What could I be doing wrong? Is there some un-written problem with using the backup feature with certain samplerate/channels combo?

I didn't mess with it much but the only way I got it to work was to use the bitrate, kHz, and mono/stereo I was broadcasting at and just not use the %d thing. So all I had was the file name.
