Anyone know how to get the server to work when the error message "[yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave error (nak)" & "[yp_add] yp.shoutcast.com gave extended error (Connection refused 194.117.133.166:8000 check shoutcast.com troubleshooting)"

Also if 194.117.133.166 is not your IP then you may want to try setting Yport to 666 in the sc_serv.ini file. Otherwise it is most likely caused by a firewall/proxy that you are running.

It may not be the firewall though, its possible that it could be the ISP you are using.
When I started using Shoutcast, I thought it was my firewall that wasn't allowing me broadcast, but then I found that it would let me broadcast sometimes (usually in the early hours of the morning) and not let me at other times. So, this is the conclusion I came to. You can try broadcasting at times when there would be less people using the service in your area (just to see if this is the problem). |

I dont think that it is anything to do with my isp, as i get the error form the server and it says that it is sending bytes but if u look at the modem lights nothing is sending and i cant find myself on the shoutcast list. it says 0 of 32 listeners are listenong too but i cant see myself on the shoutcast web site. is it really broadcasting or not??

You cannot find yourself on the SHOUTcast yp because of that error you are getting. That is preventing you from getting listed. That error means that the SHOUTcast yp cannot find your server. As a matter of fact I doubt anyone outside of you LAN would be able to connect to your server (the people inside the LAN would have to use the internal IP and then they should be able to connect). I would start with configuring ICS properly and then see where that gets me before I start messing around with all the firewalls. Check out T9. in: http://players.shoutclub.com/SHOUTcastFAQ.txt
I think I go over the basics and go to that link for details about setting up port forwarding. Tom |
