I am on a new PC and I tried to download the current version of Winamp and stream the audio in through Shoutcast. Everytime I click on tune in, windows media tried to play instead of winamp. The new PC that I have is running Win2K and IE 5.0. My old PC was running win 95 and IE 5.0. I don't know if that has anything to do with why it won't play. I am connected through a LAN here at work. What should I do now? I have tried to delete windows media but I can't seem to find it in the explorer window and it is not in the add/remove programs window either.

You need to disassociate playlist filetypes from Windows Media Player.
If you ask me you should give Winamp ALL the audio extensions ![]() So, at least, in Windows Media Player's options, remove M3U and PLS from the default association list. |

Didn't work
Ok, I disassociated all files from windows media and it still tries to play the shoutcast streams through windows media. Is there something that I need to do with winamp? I am a newbie to the audio streaming thing when it comes to problems.

Did you open up the Preferences Menu in Winamp and associate the .pls and .m3u files?? Also open up the Folder Options in your Control Panel and Click the File Types tab. Then look for the .pls and .m3u and edit them to open up winamp. (Make sure it is not winampa.exe).
