I run a win2k server.
Running the shoutcast server, I can stream to it just fine from my dinky little win98 at home. But I want to stream to the shoutcast server from Winamp running on the same win2k as my shoutcast server. This server has no soundcard. I figured out that I need to pick "Null Output Plugin" to get rid of the Device ID is out of Range error. Fine fine. When I fire up the Shoutcast server and connect to it with winamp on the same box, I get the ever present ACM Error. Now I've installed the nstools.exe file recommended for download on thje shoutcast website. I've also downloaded and installed the Radium FH MP3 codec that I saw suggested in another message. No joy.... and what's interesting is that when I go to control panel/System/Audio, Video etc.... the codecs are listed, but I can't configure any of them. And when I do, the list disappears leaving on the PCM Codec visible. Of course when I close that screen and go back into it, they are all there again. Bloody hell. DO the codecs not work properly if you don't have a sound card installed? Anyway, I have a win2k box with shoutcast, and want to run winamp as a streamer from the same box. Also the box has no soundcard, nor will it get one. Again, I can stream to the server just fine from my home PC. But hells bells, serving and streaming from the same box is the only way to go if you're no dj-ing.... so can anyone please help me? |

I hade no problem broadcasting and have server on the same box with no sound card. I'm afraid I can't help you any futher since I got it up and running using the nstools codec and a null output plugin.
What I did find out was that ths processor activity got all time high about 90% on a P 200MMX and 48 MB of RAM running with windows NT4 workstaion SP6. So this was no option for me since the webserver on the same machine got very slowaccesed. |
