Using OUT_DISK.DLL does not create a .wav file

i just upgraded to WA2.76 on Win2000. when i set the output plug-in to the NullSoft diskwriter(out_disk.dll) it does not write a .wav to the specified folder. in fact, when i set the plug-in and select play, the song file plays as normally with audio output and does not write a .wav to the specified folder.

just to make sure i wan't doing something wrong, i uninstalled and reinstalled WA2.76 and i still have the same problem. this is not a matter of following directions as i have used previous versions of WA to rip .wav files using the exact same method.

any suggestions?

Try using out_wave.dll instead of out_disk.dll

Uhhh, I doubt that would help at all, p4tooO wants Winamp to convert songs to wave-files, which actually does not work on his setup...

Well, I actually can't help at all, sorry . I'd recommend searching the forums for similar threads.

You might want to use Total Recorder in order to write anything sound-related as wave-file onto your harddisk .

Peace.

clarity?

Budgie is correct.

using Nullsoft waveOut plug-in(out_wave.dll) results in audio rendering of the file as a .wav(i.e. plays music). this works fine when i want to listen to files.

i am using Nullsoft Disk Writer plug-in v1.0 (x86) (out_disk.dll) and i have designated a destination folder. when i playback files, expecting WA to convert to and save a .wav for me, i get the same as using Nullsoft waveOut plug-in(out_wave.dll). audible music. not the intended result.

i have used WA in previous versions to do this exactly as intended with success. the upgrade to 2.76 does not work for me.

Is this just with Audio CD's, or all filetypes?

If you're trying to rip CD tracks to MP3 with Winamp, you need CDReader

If you've already got this plugin, then you need to re-enable it each time you upgrade Winamp (by re-disabling the default in_cdda.dll plugin)

If it's with all filetypes, then I've no idea

nope

i want .cda files(from CD) to .wav files. WA does this. however, with my upgrade to 2.76 it does not do it. i am following instructions and have done this successfully in the past with previous versions of WA.

True, the CD-Reader plugin will do the trick . Simply rename the original in_cdda.dll in your plugins folder to in_cdda.dll.old or something, then copy the in_cdreader.dll into your Winamp plugins folder (you have to either rename or move/delete your old in_cdda.dll, or otherwise the CD-Reader plugin and the original CD input plugin of Winamp conflict with each other). Then simply load up a song from CD and have the disk writer write the CD music as wave-files onto your harddisk. Easy, eh .

If I knew you wanted to use *.cda-files to be converted in the first place . Ah well.

Peace.

foiled again

well, this is all well and good but the CD Reader plu-in has some limitations.

it will not recognize .cda files unless reading them from a CD-Rom drive. so, in my case, i copied my CD to my hard drive(14 .cda files) and when i try to play them back, CD Reader balks and will not play/convert them.

another example of an 'improved' version being more complicated than previous incarnations. time for me to rollback.

Doh, that's why it's being called CD-Reader, dude ... It's not a limitation of the CD-Reader, it's a limitation of Windows in the way it handles *.cda files: When you copy a *.cda-file off from a CD onto your harddisk, Windows won't find the correct audio track that is actually on a CD audio. Those *.cda-files actually are nothing more but dummy shortcuts - which do not contain the actual audio data! - for Windows to differ from the different audio tracks that are onto a CDDA.

As you can see, you actually can't just copy the *.cda-files from your CD onto your HDD - Yet in order to do that, you'll need a ripper: Try EAC, or CDex. Those two are free ones and offer many options as well as perfect ripping quality. Good luck.

The CD-Reader is much superior compared to the original Winamp in_cdda.dll plugin, since it's fully digital, providing much better quality than going via the analogue way, as well as it's pretty much configurable . I love it

Peace.

- The two of you discuss behind my back??? How dare you .

Hahaha, alright DJ Egg, at least we both made the problem of copying digital audio data from a CD onto a computer's harddrive clear .

Cee ya. Peace.
