shoutcast to mp3 formast DIRECT

I want to listen to shoutcast radio and while listening have it stream from the radio directly to mp3 format. NOw i got the mp3 plugin but when i get it all configured it says that i can't stream shoutcast.........NOW WHY IS THAT? am i doing somthing wrong? do i need anything else? plz help ASAP
