Firewall

I'm a DJ on one of the channels, and I'd like to listen from work, but I'm behind a firewall (dunno which one)... when I try to jump to our station, it says connecting.... forever... but no sound ever comes out. Any help out there?

One thing you can do is either ask your administrator directly (if the sysadmin is friendly), or try to find out a bit more yourself by looking at your browser's (IE or Netscsape) proxy settings.

When you browse the web, does your browser ask you for a password? If so, you are most certainly using a proxy to make outbound connections.

Go to your browser's proxy setup (for IE 5.5, it's "Tools -> Internet Options -> Connections -> LAN Settings) to see if your browser uses a proxy to connect to the outside world. If so, copy those browser settings, and then go back to Winamp's "Preferences / Setup / HTTP Proxy" field and enter your proxy information as host:port.

(If you need a password to browse the web, your proxy setting needs to be username:password@host:port.)
