WA3 Skinning

ive recently tried to create a winamp 3 skin... i got the backgroung i wanted and placed all the play buttons. but after that i was completely lost on how to make sliders and all that sh1t. anywho, once wa2 is forgotten and v3 is all the rage, im done with skinning for winamp.

btw, why are all the wa3 tutorials written in an unknown langauge? i looked at rhynotrips site and it made as much sense as a tree.

instead of creating a poll, how bout this... just tell me if u're sticking with winamp thru wa3

Many other skinners have managed to handle with the scripting. I'm sure that with a little more patience, you will too manage to understand it. Never lose hope.

to get the overall shape you need, the biggest image (the one that contains the big grey band needs to be the image in the layout tag

in this example the big grey band would need to have the id player.main.bg

<layout id="normal" background="player.main.bg">

either that or if you have the border in a seperate layer tag then you will need to add sysregion="1" to this tag, (sysregion makes pictures show outside the main layout backgound)

<layer id="border" x="0" y="0" image="player.border" sysregion="1"/>

when you create the buttons, just use the current play buttons that you have and change the value of them in the xml file

try this page for links to sites,
http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?threadid=60472

RhinoTrips site is purely for scripting,(the .m and .maki files) not the xml pages,

I need one of those chairs too. Not going to WA3.

Keetah, did you ever fix that transparency problem? Did it happen after you changed the size of your background?

I just decided, maybe it's time to show my wa3 skin to more than two people, considering that I haven't worked on it in at least a month or two.

i'm almost positive that i'll stop skinning when wa3 is the dominant

i don't even know html, much less xml, which apparently is needed to skin, so i'm out

then again, i never was that good a skinner anyway, so small loss, eh?

i must say your skin looks extremely much like probe. i probably won't finish a WA3 skin until the finished version is out. tho i think i'll start trying to learn the xml now when the beta arrived

Guys

Hey why will all of you lot give up skinning when WA3 is default, (that wont happen for a long time cuz people will always still want WA2) but you can still skin WA3 in the same way as we Skin WA2, by editing the individual .png files, you only need to know XML to do the freeform element,

i think that if a skin is good enough people wont mind about it not being freeform, (i will make some un-freeform and some freeform skins,
