This is a new skin I am making for Winamp3. I am trying to make it as accurate to Star Trek: The Next Generation as possible. Comments and suggestions appreciated.

Different colors? Well, you'll need to be more specific. Right now I am sticking to a palette that closely matches the actual colors used in the show.
I'm not sure about the size. It does seem a bit big, but I'm going to wait and see how it looks when it's shrunk in Winamp. If it doesn't work well I'll make a smaller version. |

No offense, but it's bigger than the X-Box...

I think the colors are good. True they aren't vibrant, but they do match the show. If you plan on making the backround black, let me suggest having a version that has a transparent backround. It would be cool to have the option.

Hehe, Lyle, yeah, I know it's big. I'll fix that if it doesn't shrink well in Winamp itself.
That's an idea, BM. I may try that. Thanks. |

well, maybe try some different colors.
I think the one that makes it look the worst is the brown. it kinda makes you want to puke. here is some colors from voyager: http://startrek.com/library/media_voy.asp?ID=112612 http://startrek.com/library/media_voy.asp?ID=113082 Also. is there any way for the skin to be vector? so that it can resize depending on the screen? francis? Jon Why Llamas? Why not Aardvarks??

I'm making this to look like The Next Generation, not Voyager. There's so much Voyager-like stuff out there already.
I don't really see any need for animation, because there isn't any in LCARS, unless you're looking at a video or 3D model of something. Thanks, but I can choose colors already using my image editor. |

Stick with Next Gen- the enterprise D is the best! (And the most comfy of all the ships)
Maybe where the Spectrum Analyze/Osc scope is you should put something trekky as a title like "Temporal anomaly map" or "vertiform particle stream" or something like that

Xerxes, definitely. The D was made for crew and passenger comfort. It was light and bright and pleasant. It wasn't dark and dingy like DS9 and Voyager, and the Enterprise-E. If you think about it, in the time ST is set, the technology is so advanced, there's no reason for it to be dark in the ship. Lighting technologies are so advanced, and they obviously can afford it. <G> Out of all the ships, the one I'd like to visit most (if it actually existed that is, LOL), is the Enterprise-D.
ss1138, THANKS! I wish that site was in English, but there's a lot of great info there. I was very impressed with the pages where he shows pics of LCARS panels he's printed. I wish the instructions were in English though. Maybe someone can translate them.

the thing that catches my eye that must be changed it the volume slider should not cross over but be the same size as teh background to it that would keep in line with the lcars interface. i dont know if you have done extencive research on the lcars interface but there are some pretty specific thing taht it must comply with look for some of the star trek diagnostic manuals that have that in them and you will make a great skin for sure

thecoz, I'm afraid I do not understand what you mean about the volume slider.
Yeah, I'd like to get some of the ST books like STTNG Tech Manual, Captain's Chair, etc. I have The Art of Star Trek, but that's it. |

screen skin that you could PASSWORD protect when you wanted to go back to regular mode that'd be cool. (so people can't mess with you files). Also if someone got the password wrong it would pause the music automatically so everyone would notice!! |
