Paint Shop Pro transparency

I am making a skin just for myself. It's just a little project of mine, and I know it sux. I have one question. First, lemme show you a pic of the skin so you can have a reference for the following question. Each of my buttons are a separate layer in my .psd file (note that I am editing in Paint Shop Pro 7 tho). My lower "function" button are on top of the mosaic background, and I have a put a hard light effect on each one. The effect i dependent upon the mosaic background. Now, I have tried to make each button a separate .png but making all other layers transparent and saving it and then cropping it. The problem is that I lose the hard light. Anybody got any ideas how I can keep the hard light effect?

When saving to a png in PSP it only includes the parts of the file that are suported by a png so say I have a single layer that is not the background and I decreace the opacity in the layer panel to 50% then save as a png. It will be totally opaque because png only supports alpha channels. There are two ways around this problem only use one alpha channel or use the export to png wizard under the file menu (this makes the opacity of in psp a single alpha channel).

The reason this is relevent is the hard light may be a opacity fading effect.
