the winamp agent is watching the enemy (means: other media players)
other media players like real player/jukebox try to steal associations from winamp so that if you doubleclick on a file in the explorer this player is started instead of winamp if don't have real player installed or don't want winamp to associated with your files you don't need the agent, you can turn it off in the preferences under winamp agent you can also delete winampa.exe safely after deactivating it in the preferences the winamp agent uses very little resources/memory and you can hide the system tray icon (if i remmber correctly), so if you are lazy or if you might want to install real player later leave the agent where it is

In order to disable the Winamp Agent, start Winamp, then press both CTRL-P in order to open the Winamp preferences window. There you should go to Setup -> Agent and uncheck all three boxes in the right area of the preferences window.
I personally would not delete the winampa.exe file located in the Winamp root directory (usually C:\Program Files\Winamp\winampa.exe). Maybe you might need it in the future somehow, and if you need it, you will have to reinstall Winamp then. I would keep the exe .Peace. |

And if those 2 programs are SysTray and Explorer, then you can't really get any faster
