Gerald Manley Hopkins
1844–89, English poet, educated at Oxford. Entering the Roman Catholic Church in 1866 and the Jesuit novitiate in 1868, he was ordained in 1877. Upon becoming a Jesuit he burned much of his early verse and abandoned the writing of poetry. However, the sinking in 1875 of a German ship carrying five Franciscan nuns, exiles from Germany, inspired him to write one of his most impressive poems “The Wreck of the Deutschland.” Thereafter he produced his best poetry, including “God’s Grandeur,” “The Windhover,” “The Leaden Echo,” and “The Golden Echo.” |

a little something I wrote today during a discussion on eastern philosophy
EXIST the sinking sun is another day cast beyond the waves he rises again he follows his way never to his grave the rising moon calms the night of eternal life she bathes our rooms with constant light throughout our human strife man and woman night and day we live in constant waves yet we are one we share our way and rise above the maze |

I pick out a star in the night sky; Twiddle my thumbs, and make my wish; That you will love me, not lie; And make sure thy love is nourished. Wishing upon the brightest star; Wondering why my love lives so far; But the distance doesn't matter; For our love won't be shattered. Forever by Lee
My heart is damp from the tears I've shed, I find myself wishing that I was dead, My love for you stronger than ever, Yours for me, as if it was never, Why if you're so happy am I so sad, Right now I wish I could talk to my dad, But if I tried he'd ask why am I so pathetic and why am I still there, My life without you, so incomplete, Why can't the good times just repeat, Suicide is the every other thought in my mind, second to you, I wish that all my wishes would come true, And you would see that I was the only one for you, I believe that deep down inside your heart still resides love for me, You're so amazing I hope you know, You helped me to live, You showed me to grow, I'll always wish with my whole heart for us to be together, And I'll always remember when you said...FOREVER... Fairwell
I am done with this place In my heart it has left space I love it no more It has left my soul sore No longer is there any need of me Now that I look, this I can see I wish it were not this way I have so much more I could say To this place I may return But for now I have learned That in this magnificent spot Where I am no longer sought For now I must say fairwell and return to the depths of hell. Weeping Willow
Years ago under the willow tree I felt your heart and heard you breathe I was sure you were the one for me Under that willow tree. Our love was pure and burning heat Everytime we did chance to meet Our hearts soared high and our souls were free Under the willow tree. Years went past and soon we stopped meeting Our souls parted ways and we went seeking And the lonely willow began its weeping Oh that sad willow tree. Here I stand now with my eyes on the leaves And through the hot wind, memories weave Always surviving the storm, it seems, Under the willow tree. |

Cold Winds by Lee
2/19/02 Cold winds, still air of death; A dark soul has left; Roses once red...; Turns black as it bled; Whipping the leaves of gray; Leaving my body astray; Flesh rotting, nothing remains; Soul tattered and stained; _______________________________________ Daddy by Lee 2/19/02 Life is a dull cold place; Just like the deep grooves in my face; Sunken, dark eyes of pain; Pupils and iris, stained; Tainted heart and soul; Nothing 'cept a black coal; Skin deep cuts and bruises; Around my neck from nooses; Parched and dry my skin; Cleansed from evil sin; Stripped naked and cold; Like a slave ready to be sold; Bent down and raped like a virgin; But Daddy says its my holy purgin; Left to cry in my room; Locked in this damned tomb. nothing to say for myself, but i like all the poems posted so far, especially xara's... i guess i'm just getting tired of rhyme
no offense to any of you, of course.that last stanza is beautiful, xara, mainly the "memories weave", without any unnessesary thoughts or words, just simple. I've been looking for something simple. i think i'll try something, come back later tonight. -Alan PhotoFx -[=]-"Visual forms are not inherent in themselves, but are granted by the act of seeing..." -Trevor Goodchild |

___________________________ A Silent Ending by Lee Placing my body in this sanctuary; Keeping me frozen in stone; Closing the vault and keeping it buried; My body is still and prone; In this same standing position; All day and all night in this stony composition; That has sealed this dead body of mine; And caused an unbreakable seal within my mind; Waiting to be uncovered and love once more; To await my heart to be healed and not be sore; Taken the light from these eyes; My hands turned hard and dried; Everything is still, the air is running out; No one can hear this soul shout; Nothing I can do to change or amend; Coming to an end. crystalize tinkling on the ground I shatter in my world oh sweet, hold me once again warmth around my skin these burning tears mesmerize steaming from the ground I'm melting in my world oh friend, sooth me once again cool breeze floods within these aching tears paralyze freezing in the ground I'm chained into my world oh love, free me once again let me live again |

Something is swallowing me up
Inside I feel empty Completely drained of me as I wonder again and again will I ever win in this big game of me I'm alone in my room I try to drink me back but my heart has gone black And I find myself wanting more I try to find a door But all I find to escape my lies are more lying eyes They are swallowing me up hollowing me out I have this need to shout as I wonder again and again will I ever win in this big game of me Life can be so dark I go on without light Not a clue to what's right And I want to know why I am here still filled with fear But I don't know about anything true I don't know about you All I can really say is that lies come and go And love will die slow like I feel it doing now Drinking down my soul Leaving me a hole Something is swallowing me up Inside I feel empty Completely drained of me as I wonder again and again will I ever win in this big game of me |

I want to be your friend.
I care about you so much. At times you have shown me What a beautiful heart Beats inside of you. But sometimes you make me cry. I try to understand you, But sometimes I can not. I only understand What you allow me. You say that I am One of the few who know you, But I do not know you really. You can be so hard That I can not break through To your thoughts and feelings, Though we both like when I do. I think it makes us feel A special kind of closeness. I want to be close to you, But you make it so complicated. Why can't it just be simple love: I love you and you love me? It is not romantic, But it is still love. And when you are cold, Your ice cracks my heart. I care for you so much That it is insane. I only wish I knew What was going on in your mind Those times you put up barriers. If I do not know what you feel, There is not much I can do. And all I want to do Is make you smile. |

When I was at school, I was observing how people are nice to a person one second and then just turn around and say something mean about them the next. The people here just lie all of the time and never seem to be true to themselves or others. I'm not really sure who I can trust anymore.
The Masquerade The entire world is a masquerade No is true anymore Everything has become a charade What is all of this for All of the people that I see everyday Hide behind a mask They're full of self-doubt in every way In their lies they always bask Why can't anyone be true to their name The deception continues to grow They must realize it causes the pain It causes them agony and woe But the lies will just continue multiply Till someone is ready to quit That person must be able to stop the lies And to the truth admit Bound by chain of dwarven magic, A tale of trickery, long and tragic, Sword in jaw, awaiting the day, Ragnarok, when all gods shall pay |JessNet|PabUK||Anime-Forums| Jesus-half brother. REVEALED
A little seed buried within sometimes starts to grow and suddenly I'm in the woods I'm in the tangled gnarled branches of a vast blackness A little hope might not exist but still the seed will grow and I'll tower above the woods above the freeing flying clouds of tremendous white A little strength could still remain as the seed still grows and I'll chance the depth of the woods I'll return to tangled branches of mass confusion A little seed buried within sometimes starts to show and I'll reveal my blackened woods and shine light into the vastness of this hidden soul |

To A Loved One by Lee
Tish, you're my one and only; You're there when I'm feeling lonely; You never give up on our love; And you keep the passion in which we woved; You're always there when I'm around; Making me feel happy when I'm down; Caressing at my sides; Wiping the tears I've cried; No matter what the situation is; You amend it with a kiss; And give me a big hug; To make me feel snug; This love in which we share; Shows us how much we care; For each of our hearts together; Tish, nothing will stop me from loving you... First things first ...
![]() Welcome prem1er ... ... that was a sweet poem. I have not written something that concise for a long time. Brings back memory. Do you have a title for it? <edit>Sorry I did not see the title ... is it To Whom It may Concern? </edit> <edit>Had to add this in because Lee's poem is breath taking. Good work lee. I can always count on you to take to into hell and then take me to heaven. I solute you.</edit> RM's haiku has always been a welcomed sigth to us. It is just sad that I can't seem to find my words in that manner anymore. Need to go back to my meditations again to gain more peace in my mind. wildsegolily's <Revealed> is a true to the heart expresion. I can almost feel my own little journey of growth again. Ian as always, brutal in his honesty when he expresses himself in his poetry. He leaves no chance for a misinterpretation. Solid work. Trista, have not seen your insights for sometime, love your poem. How about a title for that sweet little number you have there? And Last but not least Alan, sorry for my darker views of life these days, apparently I am in one of my low points, so words are a bit sorrowful. But it feels good to let it all out and then move on to the next thing. <Winter|Spring> is a direct opposite to my feelings, and it feels good to have you remind me of the more positive outlook in life. : Exhale Quote:
Keep the posting coming. On a more personal note. It is your poems that help start my day. Just so you all know. Thank you. |

don't worry about it isaac, it was for my own good that i wrote that.. I like it myself, though that second to last line took me a good 15 minutes trying to iron out. I like that second to last one, Exhale, quite a bit. Generally i like to read more uplifing stuff, but contrasts is the best combination. I guess that's what i was shooting for.

Picturesque Love by Lee
Settling down in a mountainside cottage; Freed from the unsettling city rottage; Away from the disease of crime; Which has filled my mind with grime; Now to only wash it away with love; With my caring wife, motherly as a dove; With a waterfall view in my living room; And the many varieties of 'shrooms; Growing in a lively state of peace; Amongst the trees and flowers; Followed by the missing pieces; To this garden of love and passion; Me, my wife, and kids running around; Without the torment of my mother's lashing; At sunset, we sit down on the swing; Me and Tish together watching the birds' wing; Flying together in matrimony; And I kiss my loving honey; And watch the sun glow like embers; That this life is something to remember. __________________________________ My Secret Garden by Lee I have a secret garden No you can't come in Then you'll know where I run To You'll know where I've been... Its full of weeds and thorns Surrounded by high ivy covered walls But the roses they are beautiful Blood red they are ...all... There are paths that twist and turn and Moss covered trees so old they seem to weep I have guard dogs to protect it So into it you can't creep... My garden can be enchanting With its deep green grass and pools the color of my eyes Beautiful music echos on the wind Whispering beauty thats only found in lies... Its a mystical place This garden where I hide At times covered in thick grey fog Can be a little dangerous to peek in from outside... Even though the moon glows clearly It rains here every night Inside those tears from heaven All my darkness turns to light... HE lives here In my garden that I call pain Thats the reason its so precious To live without it would be in vain... Like Poetry and art? Lee, <my secrete garden> is obviously one of your best protrayal of your inner sanctum yet.
Actually it reminds me of the story <secrete garden> so much that I could actually see the rain falls and the moonlight that you are talking about. I can see the pool and the tree with tears. Bravo. I will have loved to go into that garden more, when you tell us the stories that it hides within those four walls of vine. magnificent. |
