In the RoundAMP - Beta 1 Love

There most likely aren't too many Beastie Boys fans here, but ah well.

That is a screenshot. It is mostly done. Everything, save for the Thinger, is skinned (it will be embeded in the upper left of the skyline). The components are eyesores and I will work with them. I need some help animating the robot. Inside the skin I have a 9 frame image of the robot in various arm positions. I hope to have it so that when one presses the previous, play, pause, stop, and forward buttons that 3 random frames will play in succession. I would be indebted to anyone who can hash out a script for me. I hope you enjoy it, even though you may not like the Beastie Boys. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I've seen this skin before.. a while back at alpha 6 stage or something..

I'm not gonna build a script for you, im sorry, cause if I (or we, other skinners) will give away every script than there would come every time a skinner asking for scripts...

But I do can help ya, you might want to check out some skins that have animated layers...

Yeah, I posted it around Alpha 666. Now it is much improved and almost finished.

I guess I will have to learn how to script, although the last time I tried, I tried to compile a piece of shit. I may wait until there are more examples out there to dissect.

This is a really neat skin! I like it a lot. I love how the buildings are the EQ sliders. Innovative and fun to play with!

Also, to work right w/ beta 2, you will need to add include="../default/studio.xml" in your skin.xml... this is to make sure you get the XML for the config stuff. You might want to update now so you don't get crashes later.

This include will also include everything else you might ever need from the system skin, so you shouldn't have to deal with this issue again.

Well, I am glad that someone likes it, especially someone from the Winamp3 team. I figured it would be loved by die hard Beastie Boys fans like myself, and respected as a decent skin by others.

As for the custom description I don't know. I am trying to think right now but can't come up with anything. Just put a Beastie Boys fan skin or something like that. Maybe I will come up with something good later. Thanks!

Hey man - what about doing a minimised version where you can just see the robot dude. You could have the play / stop etc buttons as bits of the robot...

I've thought about making a windowshade mode with only the robot or one sans the robot, but I never much liked the idea. I don't use the windowshade mode at all. I have also considered putting buttons on the robot, but I didn't much like it either. Do people who use the windowshade mode use the always on top feature? That would be the only reason I think why one would use the windowshade mode, to take up less room on the desktop. Since I never keep it up top, I don't care about the size of the skin. I really appreciate the feedback though!

On a second note, now that this thread is at the top, my skin is newly updated. This is the third release for beta 2.5 The main change is that it is now animated! I suck at the whole maki thing, luckily Evil Pumpkin volunteered to help me. He wrote the whole script. I also pngcrushed it. This will be one of the last releases since it is just about done, save some minor changes.

Yeah - that's exactly what i use window shade view for. A really good example of windowshade is the probe skin for Winamp3. A play button that once playing becomes pause. a stop button, advance and previous song buttons and that's it.

To be honest i just wanna have a little dancing robot on my desktop permanently

I may create a windowshade mode, but not one with the robot. The robot takes up a ton of space, so if I make a windowshade sometime in the future, the robot will be left out. But, if you so desire, you can make your own windowshade mode for your own use and do whatever you want. Just don't release it, or send it to me, and if it's up to par I will include it in the skin. I just don't use the windowshade, plus I may start a new skin soon.

I never intended for it to be constantly moving. I think that could become annoying. Evil Pumpkin made me a script that when any of the cbuttons is clicked, the robot moves for 3 random frames, so you never get the same combination. Then it stops. I think its perfect. If you want, just take out the script and you'll have a dancing robot again.
