SONY MZ-R900 Minidisc Skin

i started this skin a month ago. Now it has minimal funcionality. I'll put now one shot. I'm trying to put it in my homepage, but i'm in serious problem because i've not touched in 2 years.

I put now a shot, and i'll put here a link of skin when i can upload it to a web page.

You can contact me at juanmah@navegalia.com

try this url of geocities, its faster... but they don't let put anyarchive.wal in it... i've renamed it to .zip, you only have to change again to .wal

im the other guy
i dont mind he did start before me, anyways i hope to get mine to emulate the mz-r900 to a very high degree and mine will be silver.
plus i'll most likely finish way after he does cause im still learning how to do very basic skins.
i like his so far, it's got a really smooth image.
good work Zenken

j:o:r:d:a:n

i hope he doesn't mind that im doing one too.

i haven't planned put it yet, till it will be finished. It is a casuality that anyone start to make a skin with the same model that mine.
i've not posted nothing because the skin now is in a early stage.

My MZ-R900 is blue, but you can change the colors to silver, red and green, this last color doesn't exists in this model, only lefts white color.

i hope to finish the skin before 2002

I've made the remote too, when you minimize winamp, but it has no buttons yet.

i'll help you in skinning skills, that there are in my hand. I have a lot of thinks that i can't do now.

or did you get it from a wesite i.e. www.sonystyle.com?

I've the blue one, and the skin is based in it. I've surfed in many R900 webs, and i got a lot of high resolution photos, but all you can see in the skin is made from 0. This way you can get more detail in the way you want.

My favourite web page is this:
http://www.minidisct.com/products/sony_mzr900.html

ill bet Sony dosent actually use the font the probably created it using vector graphics and since they dont need any other letters that look like the sony style logo its probly just a logo they use over and over again.
if they do have it or some one recreated it let me know.

The winshade is made, but has no buttons, and now you can't return to main window.
You can see it inside the wal.
In a couple of days i'll upload next version that will have winshade. patience

for some reason your volume up and down buttons dont work

PHP Code:
    <button
      action
="VOLUME_UP"

x="0" y="0"

image=""

tooltip="Volume Up"

/>

    <
button
      action
="VOLUME_DOWN"

x="0" y="0"

image=""

tooltip="Volume Down"

/>
this is the code for volume up and down if you wanted to know

The volume buttons are working (not as well i would).
But if you look inside the code, the buttons already has these actions: VOLUME_UP VOLUME_DOWN.
The problem is that you has to press a lot of time a button to apreciate any change in volume.
I'm working in script code for when you press button, volume increases/decreases proportionally at time you're pressing.

a correction to my english:
"The problem is that you has to press a lot of time a button to apreciate any change in volume.
would mean: you have to press 10 times or more the button to see any change.

Speaking of minidisc players... has anyone seen the new NetMD MZ-N1? Records at 30x normal speed with a USB connection... check it out...
NetMD Model MZ-N1

I love Minidiscs, it's too bad they didn't catch on in America. I have a friend who's going to Japan over the holidays and she's picking up a NetMD for me (they release on the 10th of Dec. there at about $275). I can't wait to hook that baby up!

by the way, zenken, the link to your skin at your site is broken... or i couldn't download it anyway...

Wait few days for new version.
Personalized data:

sertmann: a lot of thanks, i'll notify you when i update the skin
dexterholland: do you know any solution to the volume problem?

I have some problems with fonts!

I've changed the main font on my skin (tomorrow i'll post it). What problems i have?

First. There is no downcase!!!! In my mz-r900 there are downcase, and:

Second. There are no special char. in the display is shown several little graphics. I don't want to make a bitmap for them because they move with text! I want to make special char without sacrifice symbols like !"/&()?=. Do You catch me?

Third. The scrolling text is VERY smooth, i need that text scrolls 1 char each time, not 1 pixel!

The font.png used in winamp3 is heritated from winamp2, it is good but is NO customisable, doesN'T has any acuted vocal áàäâ, there is some unused space in it. (How can i get some use of them???)

If font.png system don't change should i use True Type Font? In that case, how do i make my own true type font???
And i've tried to use TTF but... bitmap font give me more control. The text has a fixed char width.

My wish is... a NEW BITMAP FONT FORMAT, with more capabilities, more customization for the skin. And MORE OPTIONS IN TEXT SCROLLING

This is all. Tomorrow there will be a new version.

Now side wheels are working!! Try it!

What's wrong with winamp3:
- BUG: When i use a 'Layout_variable'.LeftButtonDown, UP or Move, it do TWICE. I've patched it with some variables. I'll do a demoskin to show how to patch it.
- CRASH: When System.play(); is executed a lot of times in few seconds, winamp3 crashes.
- UNSUPPORTED: What's about .onDock and .onUndock? I think they aren't working.
- HELP: I need more help, stefanweb is a quite old

One Problem I had was your close button. The X is there, but not lining up with the coordinates of the X link to close it down. It looks pretty neat. Keep up the good work.

I downloaded this skin off of deskmod and rated it for ya.
This is one slick skin. Very photorealistic. The scripting
is top notch. I like how that line bounces and the cd thing
turns when a song is playing.
But the version I have right now doesn't have any turning
side wheels.

That script for the backlight is cool. I like it alot on
your skin. Are you offering it up for people to use. If so
I would like to try and get it into my skin. I really like
the effect. I can't believe you can do this stuff with Winamp.
You have alot of cool features in your skin.

Keep up the good work and I hope I see some more skins from you.

BIG UPDATE!!!!
Now components are skinned
A lot of small fixes

I haven't achieved to get transparency in components
If i put a transparent bitmap in component layer, it is invisible.
If i put despktopalpha="1" transparency works well but contents of component are not attached to component frame !!
I don't know what i'm wrong.

I'll wait for next beta for more changes

Other problem is docking:

I want to put some layers out from main, but if i will do main bigger, then docking rects are bigger and i don't want this, i want to define a rect to dock in it, even if main background is bigger.

Go to my page, or to deskmod, or to deviantart. to get v0.21

I forget it: a screenshot!

In my page is a new big screenshot [500KB]
Or go to deskmod
Or to deviantart

henry3k56: fixed last update i was too lazy to change 2 numbers :P

pixelpusher: thx, i like your skin too. I hope that in a future version of it, there will be antialiased lines and text... and backlight hehe.
Of course you can use it. And when i got time i'll do more tutorials:
- Change volume with 2 buttons
- How to get Next/FF and Prev/RW with 2 buttons.
- Multistate button (like side wheels)
- and more...

The link to your skin on your webpage gives me a 404.

Deskmod is not moving right now. I guess i'll wait till
tomorrow to d/l the lastest version.

I'm glad you like my skin. It's really nothing special.
I hope it has a backlight someday too.

That would be cool to see some more code from you.
I look forward to using some..

Pixelpusher.

<edit> You might want to check your upload to deskmod.
It seems that its just the screenshot. It says 142kb and i'm not able
to download any skin. I thought for sure your skin was like 300kb or
something.

Boxor uses snap points to change the docking rects. Check out player-normal.xml and rotor.xml from Boxor.

i looked to these snap points, they are usefull to dock 2 layouts in 1 point, only 1.
I need to dock in a suposed snap rect.
What about to make some snap geometrys more? like:

snap line: to dock arround a line
snap rect: to make a virtual docking rect different from layout's bitmap size. Easy, isn't it?
snap circle: same with a circle shape
snap polyline: with shape you like

and 1 option to disable standart docking rect.
