Winamp 3: The good, bad and Ugly

Well after reading many posts, time to add my own two cents.

The new skins, translucency effects, skins with unique shapes.. all very cool! Audio crossfading is also very nice (I've desired that effect for a while!) For the people who don't like the extra cpu usage, just run version 2. Sure, programming should always be tight and efficient, but a few bells and whistles don't hurt. If you're still running a PII 200 mHz, well, that's your malfunction, don't hold up technological progress for the rest of us

The minibrowser... c'mon guys, who the hell uses that thing anyways. All it does is wrap an Internet Explorer window with a winamp skin. Scrap it, seriously. I don't want to have to stalk anyone down!! (Kidding!! ...MAYBE)

Of course, programming and coding can never be TOO tight... if the music is skippy, no amount of flashy graphics and effects is going to make Winamp enjoyable. That's just common sense. But with that in mind, computing power is constantly getting cheaper. It isn't unreasonable to ask people to have 500+ mHz and at least 256 megs of Ram. You want an efficient no frills system, maybe your local Salvation Army has some working Commodore 64's! Hey, 64 k of ram really IS a lot, when ya think about it....

Anyways, no point whining about petty glitches since we all know it's just a beta right now. Awesome work, Winamp dudes. Can't wait for the final.

Peace.

And I mean it. Kill the mini browser.
