Question Paint Shop Pro or Adobe Photoshop?

I am really starting to get into the whole skinning thing. I just have one question, which graphics editor is better: Paint Shop Pro, or, Adobe Photoshop.

photoshop is more capable but also more expencive. I use PSP. 7.04 automatically saves transparency to an alpha layer for the PNG. You can't do things like spherical selections which lots of people do cool things with though

If you don't want to buy it, just search for warez, im sure you'll find it..

I think photoshop is better, but I haven't really used PSP that much...

photoshop if you can afford it (or can aquire it by other means ) paint shop pro for sheer value for money. it's almost as capable as photoshop but costs about a sixth of the price.

does psp even have any vector functions? i'm so use to using the pen tool for so many things, i couldn't ever give it up.

illustrator can also do some pretty cool things. if i had a zip drive, i'd get some files off the my school zip that are pretty cool.

Student Discounts, as long as you are enrolled in some sort of educational institution you can get the discount. High School - College whatever it is all good.

wow, Photoshop 7! I'm so excited!

Photoshop is all I use for non-vector stuff, it is far superior to PSP7, especially in the user interface.

REAL-DRAW

The new version will come out pretty soon and it's simply excellent.
In a couple of minutes you can create buttons and background with all the effects you want (bevel, transparency, lights, textures...)

if you want to see wxhat can be done with it, go and have a look on my gallery (no skins there, only illustrations for some RPG netbooks)

paint shop pro does indeed have vector functions, in fact it's almost got a basic vector graphics package built in. the tools might not be where you expect them though and they can sometimes be slightly fiddly, but they're capable.
