Hi, I'm brand spanking new to skinning and such, so lemme know if I'm doing something dumb or I need to look somewhere else first. So I sat down tonight after I found Winamp 3 came out, and started playing around, trying to make a skin. I had a high res photoshop 6.0 image of it, and I "save to web", then choose PNG 24. However when winamp runs, it has a strip which is transparent although it is not so in my image and not in my xml file. Here is a picture of the strange part:
Here is a picture of the image in photoshop: and here are my two config files: <include file="player-elements.xml"/> <container id="main" name="Main window" default_x="0" default_y="0" default_visible="1"> <layout id="normal" background="player.main.bg"> <!-- Playback buttons --> <!-- <button id="play" action="PLAY" x="200" y="200" image="player.play.normal" hoverImage="player.play.normal" downImage="player.play.normal" tooltip="Play" /> <button id="open" action="EJECT" x="13" y="14" image="player.open.normal" hoverImage="player.open.hover" downImage="player.open.clicked" tooltip="Open" /> <button id="stop" action="STOP" x="70" y="27" image="player.stop.normal" hoverImage="player.stop.hover" downImage="player.stop.clicked" tooltip="Stop" /> <layer id="overlay" image="player.overlay" ghost="1" /> --> </layout> </container> and <elements> <bitmap id="player.main.bg" file="gfx/background.png" /> <!-- <bitmap id="player.play.normal" file="gfx/playbutton.png" x="200" y="200" h="34" w="36"/> <bitmap id="player.open.normal" file="gfx/normal.png" x="13" y="14" h="55" w="53"/> <bitmap id="player.open.hover" file="gfx/hover.png" x="13" y="14" h="55" w="53"/> <bitmap id="player.open.clicked" file="gfx/clicked.png" x="13" y="14" h="55" w="53"/> <bitmap id="player.stop.normal" file="gfx/normal.png" x="70" y="27" h="29" w="50"/> <bitmap id="player.stop.hover" file="gfx/hover.png" x="70" y="27" h="29" w="50"/> <bitmap id="player.stop.clicked" file="gfx/clicked.png" x="70" y="27" h="29" w="50"/> <bitmap id="player.overlay" file="gfx/overlay.png" /> --> </elements> any suggestions? Also, I cropped a button(highly transparent) and saved it as PNG, and I put the correct width/height in the config, but it shows up as garbage(green lines). ???????? |

Didn't somebody say not to use "Save to web" ? It may be that.
By the way, the skin looks really nice. |

Somehow the damn post went to another thread......wierd, here is the ss.
Here is a screenshot of what I have so far. Its not really done, no sliders or anything yet, because i originally didn't intend it as a skin at all. Will be added though, and will look nice. The image isn't working right now, I'll call the guys at work and tell them to reboot the server(goddamn windows 2000). I'm still having the same problem. Save as didn't work, changing the png size didn't work, i'm about to try a different program. But that would be a huge pain and I know photoshop has to work. Any ideas? |

The only time I've seen something like that ( i looked at your post this morning) is when I've accidentally saved out the png with an incorrect alpha channel, check your alphas on the image, and see which are active, and which it's saving, strikes me as odd that it was a perfect looking rectangle shaped hole in the image, almost like a selection that you'd made/saved and not noticed.
Might be that. Can you post up the PNG somewhere, or even better the PSD file? |
