forums.winamp.com problems?

Warning: Too many connections in /home/httpd/htdocs/admin/db_mysql.php on line 38

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.
Please try again by pressing the refresh button in your browser.

An E-Mail has been dispatched to our Technical Staff, who you can also contact if the problem persists.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

I've been seeing this message in the past two or three days several times. Has the board outgrown it's server, or are there some other problems?

I was away for a while.
But I'm feeling much better now.

I'm surprised that such large forums are still using mySQL, I thought they might use something more heavy duty as it were

Just as I went to post the perfect post, MySQL goes down. Sweet.

Anyway, everything big uses MySQL, since everything big uses vBulletin.

Even SomethingAwful.com, which has roughly 5,000 active members, uses vB. We encounter MySQL errors daily.

I know Winamp has roughly 41300 total members, but how many have posted in the last week?

About 5?

(Sorry, force of habit, couldn't stop myself. I say "about 5" as the answer to moreorless every question and it has become a kind of an in-joke with all my mates. None of you will understand, but you wouldn't want to as it is not particularly funny. sigh. if i do it again, tell me to stop. please?)

Really, I've never got that error. Wierd, and the forum is fast for me, about 20KBps.

I've got it twice. The first time, it wasn't a tii many connections error. It was like some sort of error that said it couldn't read from the mysql db or something. Anyway, the second time, it was the too many connections error.
