About the mike
When i use the mike and my input device is the sound card listners say the songs sound distant.
Is it because of the sound card, or the mikes fault???

The problem is that your mic is the only thing broadcasting, even when you selecte mic off, I have the same problem, an am trying to fix it.... the reason that the music sounds distant is cause its comming out of your speakers and into your mic, then getting casted...

You need a compressor if you want to sound as loud as the music your playing on your station.
The cheepest compressor I know of is made by Behringer and its $79. If your moving up you might as well pickup a small mixer from behringer aswell for $69 and a Shure SM-57 mic $79. With all that you can get a nearly pro sound. Add a good soundcard and your flying high. Check out the M-Audio Audiophile and Delta serise. www.m-audio.com www.behringer.de www.zzsounds.com <- Online Dealer of everything above www.8thstreet.com <- Online Dealer of everything above www.kellysmusic.ca <- Online Dealer of soundcards |

I don't understand why you are having this issue ? how are you using the Mic ? When to talk are you using SHOUTcast input box and pressing the MIC button or are you doing it from a MIXER ?
What I do is : 1) Mic is ALWAYS on 2) Music is set to about 90% 3) When I want to talk I press the TALK button 4) Mic jumps to 90% and music down to 40% Works fine, sorry if this is not what you are talking about. I might of picked you up wrong ? PS. What soundcard are you using Live1024 ? |

Problem =
When casting using the newest Shoutcast DSP to use the mic you have to switch it to Soundcard imput. When using Soundcard imput, the mixer settings seem to have no affect at all, it always broadcasts whatever the mic picks up... Soundcard is a SB Live Plat |

okay mate, I think I understand... try this as we have the same card.
Load up the SB Mixer (Surround Mixer) and the REC icon I have it to (what you hear)... so if it sounds okay to you it goes out that way. |

Put it at Input and NOT winamp or it will just take the sound from that program (I guess).
I have mine set on Input and works well. |
