A thought just struck me!

'Nice, wet and mean!'
Does that sentence make any sense?
Nice and mean at the same time?

Does anybody know what that is suppossed to mean and where it comes from?
I don't.

bye.

Depends on how mean you are. If you are the sort that likes mean things then it might make sense otherwise it might have originated as 'Nice and lean'

Maybe the term "mean" is used as it is in this sentence-

"Man, that is a mean sandwich!"

Oh, that is obvious. Nice is definately "mice" spelled wrongly, wet is supposed to be "vet", and mean was originally intended to mean "mine". So the mice that are yours, happen to have been treated recently by a vet. I think that is rather obvious. But where that phrase comes from? I don't even think god can answer that. (Which isn't strange, considering god's inability to exist)

Nice can be used to describe the degree of something, as in the phrase, "that was nice and quick". Even though something being short can be undesirable, in this particular instance, nice is being used to give emphasis to how quick something was. So, in your example, nice is being used to emphasize how wet and mean something is.

I hate the word 'NICE' for some reason. I've never really worked out why, it could be something to do with people saying, 'Ahhh, he's such a nice boy'

He uses statistics like a drunk uses lamp-posts: for support, not illumination.

You are actualy right. In an oxymoron, words follow this pattern: a b x y z
That's an antithesis, where words follow this pattern: a c d e b

I could go even further in depth by telling you that an oxymoron is two adjoing words whose meanings conflict, whereas an antithesis is a sentence with two conflicting ideas. But I won't.

Well, I enjoy boats.
In fact my boat is a Kona hull, it's a speedboat, but we pull skiers and boarders with it.
Yeah, I can see somebody doing a freestyle board routine that threw a lot of roost and some good tricks being welcomed back into the boat with the words "Man, that was NICE, and WET, and MEAN!"

"Nothing really matters much to me"-Freddie Mercury
