MilkDrop 1.01 Desktop Mode Problems

Ok, first off. I absolutely love this visualization in Full Screen and it runs great. Usually around a very steady 50fps on 32bit 1024x768 48x36mesh size and about 35-40fps on a normal mesh @ 32 1280x1024. Ok, so enough bragging or something.

So,
settings:
In Desktop Mode.
Using the hardware blit
double-buffered option
(and trying variations of rgb b4 yuv or uv2 b4 uyvy)
Resolution full (anything else looks really gross)

Problem:
Maybe this is in the design but the full screen mode doesn't compare to the desktop mode at all.

A), the desktop mode for some reason is very "greenish" the background is mainly a green color and it always reverts to some form of green. Unfortunately I dislike green…

B)(btw I'm running in 1280x1024x32@85hz) the visual isn't centered in the desktop. It's way off to the right. I don't even think you can see the "cortex". Sometimes, during shifting it is so off center that you will end up having a solid (green) background for a few seconds.

I think desktop mode would look real cool if it wasn't so green and off centered. Or at least I could form a better opinion about it right?

Comp Stats:
WinXP PRO (5.1 bulid 2600)
AMD Athlon ~1208mhz
512MB
DirectX 8.1 (4.08.01.0810)
NVidia Geforce3 (64mb) Driver Version: 23.11
Winamp 2.78C

Feel free to email me at Leeterist@hotmail.com if you have any opinons or want me to test anything specifically.

Thanx a bunch

You lucky man. Those speeds I need a GF3. Is that with the texture size at 2048x2048 in full screen. That would be good I can only go up 1024x1024 with my GF2.

ARe there newer drivers for your card out 21.83?

Back to your problem can you post screen shots and the debug file.
From the config panel and post the c:\m_debug.txt.

Later it is bed time for me.

Rova, I'm surprised at you - I thought we all had a standardised response to this question by now

Hardware blitting doesn't work properly on any nVidia card. It's a driver issue. There's nothing, you, we, or Ryan can do about it. If you really want desktop mode with hardware blit, complain to nVidia.

Nvidia Driver Problem

If it's a driver problem, do we have any documentation on what the problem actually is and maybe a proposed fix? I'll complain to whomever. I'm quite good at it actually. Although I won't be an ignorant luser and tell them that it, "just doesn't work right".

I'll have to post config file and screen shot if it is still needed/wanted later. Damn workstation at work running NT 4.0. Too bad we can't get a "MilkDrop Lite" for NT, but I guess it doesn't actually pay, since only out-of-date places like the state goverment would use this old crap.

Thanx,
Sox

ok im not claming to be a master programmer or nothing but what exactly is the driver error with nvidia cards... i have seen a great many other programs using YUV and RGB overlays (and they have work buffers in different color modes) with no problems on NVIDIA and whatever other chipset you wish to mention.... i understand there is a co;or space issue.... but i havent seen any documentation on what the problem is exactly... i mean hell if the FULL detalis of what your trying to do were written down somebody might know how to help.... i dont know i just seems like there would have to be an easy workaround and if ppl knew the method you were using to do stuff they might be able to offer some construtive advise.. hell i just want to see it work.... thats my two cents

I thought there was a solution...
Anyway, you can still enjoy this wonderfull plug-in without hardware acceleration... it takes 73% ( !!!) of my P3-733 (quarter-ugly res but it's still nice).
