My listeners are complaining of choppy reception
I recently started broadcasting music usign shoutcast and winamp and my listeners are complaining that the music starts and stops, it is choppy. I put the encoder setting in winamp all the way down to 24 kbps but still the choppiness continues. i am using an ethernet connection at my university. is there anything else i can do to make the reception better for listeners besides lowering the encoder setting? please help. Might help..
We'll it might be a good idea to have atleast 12 mb of RAM per listener. Also, Linux seems to perform better when it comes to webcasting. Less crashes, and uses recources more effectively.

What sort of processor are you running there, chief?
Also, check your bandwidth using one of the speedtests at DSL Reports. |

Thoughts? Yes, I would make sure you don't have any extraneous shit running in background that might be hogging memory. Also, do a spyware scan using Ad-Aware from www.lavasoft.de . Check to see if you have webhancer installed, too. Go to Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs, look for Webhancer in the list. If it's there, uninstall it.
Something's hogging your resources. Search and destroy. |
