My third skin, a crappy one at that (well, all of them are crappy), but I'm done the Main Window.

How's it look?

I made it in MS Paint, and I always wonder what "detail" is in MS Paint.

I'm not planning to publish it, it's just for myself, and I like simple skins. All my skins are quite simple and easy on the eyes. I don't make crazy skins like Drew and his BlueTechAmp (crazy as in oh-my-God kinda talent). You could probably make BlueTechAmp in Paint, but who'd want to take the time?

LOL I surely wouldn't - I tried to make a skin using MSPaint - about 4 hours into it I realized it was stupid to spend 4 hours doing something I could've done in 4 minutes

I understand. I did that with my second skin, Simple Amp. Unfortunately, no screenshot (I'm lazy). Just download the skin.

This is an older version, I haven't zipped my final yet, because I am lazy, and it's kinda just for myself. This version doesn't have the MB done or cursors.

I think this is what you mean, I connected the title bars with all the windows, though when put in windowshade, some of the windows look odd since I had to cut off a part of the border for it to look right.

i would!!! i am half done right now, and i think it kicks ass.

umm, if you want ill attach the volume bar bmp too, im rather proud of it. anyway..

i like your skin! i actually liked the way it looked in the first ss more.

edit: i like it all, except for the shadow under the numbers, they kinda dont fit...

Cleanup, I reallylike your skinstoo - nice and simple - just like me. I think the mono/stereo need to be changed - perhaps symbols or text but not a button - since it's an indicator.

Other than that and perhaps more consistent labelling, this is great.

I would suggest adding a grey border around the blue one and either change the purpley blue color to the blue is the other parts of the skin or use it more so that it's not as out of place. you could make lots of wire-type things

stttafffy, you sound as if you think no one ever takes the time to make skins in MSPaint and you're the only person that does, and you're special...

actually I wuv wusing MSP...I have maked many Paint skins (many being 3.1)

you're skin is very nice, but (and don't take this the wrong way) it's no "marvel of MSPainting". I am in no way saying your skin sucks. it's one of the best MSPaint skins I've seen. what I'm calling a "marvel of MSPainting" is creating a metal texture like what I've attached. if anyone can do this in MSPaint, you have too much time on your hands

and I admire that

Why are metal and dimension valued above everything else? There are some really great metal skins, and some bad flat skins, but there are also great flat skins and bad metal skins. If you make something look slightly metallic and three-dimensional, everyone will love it, even if it's crap, but if you make something two dimensional, even if it's really good, people will complain and tell you to add some shadows or something.

you have a good point

but the only reason I used a 3-D metallic texture for this example is because that type of thing is very difficult with MSPaint
most 2-D things just require a nice shape for them to look cool, and that's pretty easy to achieve in MSPaint
but since MSPaint has no filter effects and a much smaller selection of tools, 3-D stuff is quite difficult unless it's just a standard 2-pixel bevel (which you can do with only using the default colors)

You don't need to use the default colours. For grey buttons, I change a shade of grey slightly. It actually looks pretty good. If you look closely on my newest main.bmp, the Number/Vis display is bevelled. Though it doesn't show up well on the top, it does on the bottom. The most simple things can be very effective.

I find MS Paint quite capable of making Winamp skins.

i like msp better than photoshop, but that will change once i get ok at photoshop.
supey, those gradiess are possible, but you will do a lot of averaging of rgb values! (like days worth)
that would be a feat. if someone wanted to do that, it would fall under the realm of masochism. i shoudl finish my skin. ill start back up now, now i can get that god-awful 'man' skin off my winamp
