ID3 v.1 Bug
Winamp allows you to enter in two more characters in the comment field of ID3 v.1 or 1.1 tags than it actually saves.

No bug, a standard. If you enter a track number for ID3v1.1 it uses the last two bits of the comment field. So it goes from 30 characters to 28 characters.

There's loads of information about the id3 standard on http://www.id3.org, including a short history.

I use ID3v1.0 for my ID3v1 tags. No point in using tracknumbers in ID3v1, especially if you add them in the ID3v2 tag, if you add one...

Yeah, that's a bug. If you use the track# tag, winamp should only permit you to enter in 28 characters in the comment field. It should run a diagnostic to see if the track # tag is present, then adjust the maximum string width accordingly, otherwise its giving the impression that your saving more information than you are.

Well, what if you already implemented a comment and then enter a track? it would have to go back and then remove the characters form the text box. Even not it is still dynamically setting the box limits. It is a lot of extra code for a very little feature.
