depends on the drummer you ask

most i know don't need to know, since it's generaly jsut the rhythms... which i hope you're ok with. and they just use that for modification of whatever they're playing anyway, not actually using everthing.

hehe, yeah i was like that. i pick up most things by ear, i can't read music all that well.

having said that, drum music isn't nearly as difficult. it's just a bunch of crosses and dots

I play guitar but I left it at home after christmas because a) it wouldn't fit in the car and b) it would be too much of a distraction from work. I miss it so

. I can't read music at all but I can read guitar tab easy plus I don't have any rhythem or sence of tone

I find the difficulty in disassociating my legs from my arms. I can play with either the drumsticks, or with my feet, but combining them required a lot more work, even for simplistic patterns. But then, I was never a good drummer.

edit: I was never an even remotely decent drummer.

That's how I am. A lot of the time, I just memorized how to play a song after laboring over reading the music. I didn't know which key I was pressing half the time.
