Still not convinced that Hotmail is the crappiest service in the world?

For the love of God, BOYCOTT THE USE OF HOTMAIL!!!

I honestly couldn't care less that I've released this info publically..... I rarely, if ever, use hotmail. Besides, MS seems to enjoy broadcasting it to the world anyway.

Haha. That's great. If you aer going to use Hotmail, you might as well leave your usename and password taped to your desk. Maybe this is part of their "free" plan. You get some actual security only if you pay . . .

I'm a lazy ass bastard. If someone with the l33t skillz wants to donate their time and talent to create a nice, pretty, cross-browser compatible page for BUHM, I'd gladly host all files, images, etc. Hotmail must die a horrible death. I will not rest until I see it so

requirements (if you are interested in making a page):
-Quick to load
-Just 1 page (I want to keep my web directory clean)
-A section for displaying screenshots of the follies of Hotmail 9such as the one above)
-Mission statement (I will write it)
-CSS (embedded in the <head> would be preferable) so it's easy for me to maintain
-In essence, a template for me to work from. I like the BURP site

I will do all maintenance and updates (not likely needed, because Hotmail's service is as crappy as it was 1 year ago ).

What is especially vile is that they use SSL for the MSN Passport submission to trick you into thinking your user info is safe. Seriously, this is a major issue, because the MSN Passport is used for ecommerce authentication

Do they not realize that their users use Hotmail in public locations, where they do not have complete monitor/screen privacy? After all, isn't one of their selling points that you can use Hotmail wherever you are? Such as internet cafes or libraries... seriously, they may as well remove the password char from the password box. Pathetic.

MS is just using stop gap measures for their many security flaws. There was that big fufarraw about people being able to sign into your account, so they implemented SSL. Yet they didn't solve any problems. Thinking that your password was protected from hackers by SSL protection, they left your password unecrypted, not caring that it's fully visible to anyone within 10ft of your monitor. They won't care until several hundred users have their accounts logged into without their authorization. Spread the word. Hotmail is evil.

My Hotmail kicks ass for porn, I'm constantly finding new ways to give it to my girlfriend, but for a good email service I think I'll stick to my Outlook Express.

No, it is not.
  • Your inbox is incredibly small (it is capped at 2MB)*
  • @hotmail.com is the most spam prone domain name on the planet
  • Their highest spam filtering setting doesn't work (I still get >20 spam messages a day even though I have it set to only accept users from my address book... and my address book is empty)
  • They tag on an ad at the end of all your messages
  • They provide no real security (see above)
  • More attempts have been made to hack into Hotmail accounts than any other service
  • Their web access doesn't render well on many browsers... it's optimized only for IE

and many, many more reasons.

*That equates to 683 spam messages (at 3kb a piece) before your important emails are automatically deleted. At 20 spam messages a day (conservative figure) at the highest filtering setting, it will only take 34 days before your messages start to get deleted. Pathetic.

i remember seeing somewhere how to hack into a hotmail account. apparently, when you click "i lost my password" an automated email is generated and sent to hotmail. all you have to do is fill in the username and your alternate email address and you get the password. not too difficult to crack.

A) They need to recheck their grammar.
B) Why is this from Sharon and the first from June?
C) It appears that they just use a bot to scan emails for common questions, and send a canned reply.

I like hotmail and all I can say is, what happed with your Hotmail account in that pic? When I log in, I made a movie of the whole sign-in and -out process and not once, did hotmail reveal my username or password in letters, unless it was numerically coded. Did you edit that yourself?

How did you log on (private, public or none (at hotmail))?

What version of IE are you using?

Odd, my URL does NOT show my username and password when i log in. Im given this:

http://lw8fd.law8.hotmail.msn.com/cgi-bin/hmhome?curmbox=F000000001&a=253bccbbc848d47065b5337c8870bc4e&fti=yes&_lang=EN

Lain, in IE go to Help, and About IE, and check your Cypher Strength. It needs to say 128-bit, if it says 0, then you cannot log onto hotmail, because hotmail uses 128-bit emcryption. If it shows 0, redownload and re-install IE from microsoft.com

whetehr it happens all the time or just 1 in every 1E9999 times doesn't matter. It shouldn't matter how you log in, when you log in, or if you log in whilst hanging upside down from a tree, it shouldn't happen! EVER! It shouldn't happen at all. I use Talk21 mail (guess the website), it's a bit slow at times, but it works and i don't get any spam.

Hotmail is pretty bad, but I still use it, too lazy to use something else...

I got a new Hotmail account and DID NOT turn the Junk Mail Filter on. They say this will forward "Junk" to your Junk Mail folder. And it does, but not all of it.

Truth is, is that people and companies get your email address through lists of people who've turned the Filter on. Hotmail keeps the lists and distrubutes them. So I don't get any junk mail at all on my new account.
