Wanna know why?
Like to know why people use skinner.exe to make skins? Because they get 3.5 stars from the staff reviewers...
http://www.winamp.com/skins/detail.j...ponentId=52326 Who wouldn't, when you can get a better rating than those who tried their hardest, but aren't the best at psp/ps/paint/whatever. Just a thought. Frustrating when it's so hard to get 4-5 stars. |

That was rated in April 2001 when there wasn't a skin review team sorting thru the skins, ALL skins were spat out on the site with an average of 3.5 stars.
If you looked at the skin, you would see it does acctually say "no staff review available" You did look didn't you? Please be sure of your facts before jumping in feet first

If there wasn't a review team, why were ANY stars given? Seems a bit unfair, just my opinion *shrug* Also, this is eventually gonna get moved to the generated category, right? (I have seen others like this, too, that have gotten anywhere between 2.5 and 3.5 stars) And yeah, I did miss the fact that it wasn't given a review :-) Oopsie!

Sadly , Steves mom only allows you to publish a skin by giving it a star rating, so 3.5 was given to everything, good, bad or totaly shit. This in turn led to some of the skinners in here, myself included, talking with Nullsoft, this in turn led to the formation of the review team around August last year, it should be noted that this dialogue took place over 3 or 4 months, with ideas bouncing back and forth, web development taking place all the time to allow outside users access to the inner workings of the winamp.com inner site core. While all this was going on, skins were still being spat out to keep the rest of the public happy. Since the inception of the review team, skinner skins have all been moved into a seperate section, new skinner skins all get a default review and a default mark, and then published in the generated section. |

I've also just re-reviewed it, lowered it's staff rating, moved it to generated, probably slipped the net, it's not an accurate science moving the skins around, so probs just got missed.
Check it again in a while once the server plays catch up and caches it to the live site. |

Gotcha. Hey, I'm not trying to open a can of worms or anything... I haven't even been on this site as far back as April, so I knew nothing about what you're talking about lol. I'm not really a bad person, and I'm not trying to be a b*tch, just curious! I'm just expressing my opinion that I think skinner.exe's should almost always get a lower rating than skins that were done in a graphics program... wishful thinking, I guess. Sorry to waste your time, but thanks for the quick reply.

Stoopid enuff to rate something purely on the merits of what the picture is, disregarding any artistic input into it, is only to be expected. |

Atmo- think it's hard to believe how many people will give skins weird ratings? Just check out any Britney skin- I can just about guarantee that the ratings will be either 5 stars or 0 stars. Bwah ha ha! Personally, I rarely look at the public rating, mainly because of the bias. Staff ratings I trust a bit more, although I've seen a few I don't agree with... but that happens. I dunno, go through the generated category, from the top, and you'll see what I mean. Okay, no more bitching from Becky. Sorry I'm being frustrating today. Every day? I'll just shut up now lol.

Gotta agree with ya on the britney skins metallichica...do the same thing for most other bands and you'll find the same thing...
However i'd be more than happy if a skin i worked on for 50+ hours got a 4 1/2 star public rating... |

Nah, I hate beer... but perhaps a Smirnoff's Ice would be in order about now. Mmmmmm... icy....
Actually I'm about to head over to the Village Sports Pub to watch the Ohio State game anyway... I just might have to get one or two lol. Thanks for the idea, Mr. Jones
