I think it's more for the presidence. First this then what? Trojins in all products that allow obersvation of a person useing the product properly. Maybe a virus that uploads information about the person to a central database so they can make sure that you arn't doing anything bad like copying the copy software. I think they know that there is no way on this earth that they can enforce that. The massive amount of hackers and other programming enthusist will have it cracked under an hour. But they can penilze a few people and cry that it's not effect and move on to the next step, complete access to any system with any software made in america.

If it goes through Im either moving to canada or Japan. Can't beat thoes damn cool giant robots. I wonder if they will have the Anti-pircy bit too = P

the Grandfather clause is that any software before hand will not have to go back and add the protection. It's so old (like a grandfather) and there for exempt.

An other law that is going to put more money out of the pockets of the small consumer and in the pockets of the rich industry. This way of thinking is going to get us all destroyed. Remember the meaning of Democracy? (power to the people)

Since, i'm from Canada this law is not supposed to affect me, in theory. Just a other point that the US thinks it's the center of the world. They would pass a law that would force every other countries to do pass a similar law if they would want to make trades with the US. And since Canada's is the US biggest trade partners, it would affect us soon after.

And if canada's does not support this law (which im sure it won't because we are a much more liberal country and the citizen rights is much more important that stupid laws) and it's going to be our fault for the piracy in the US, because people would buy there things in canada and cross the border. Blame Canada!!

I'm tired of seeing that the US can dictates it's law to everybody else in the world. Why is that when the US passes a law it has to be accepted by the everywhere. Why does the FBI come arresting people for internet hacking, etc. and not the local police. (Example: Mafia Boy was arrested by the GRC at the demande of the FBI). The US doesn't have the right to control 8 billion people. it is not the center of the world.

There is not a chance that this will pass if it is in the form that Wired claims it to be. Then again, Wired isn't exactly known for clear unbiased reporting.

All I have to say is this. The music industry has too much of a hold over CD's. You know we OVERPAY for a cd, $20's when to create a cd it's at most $2, and the graphics you put on them are at least $10 per cd. Aside from the fact when the entire Napster thing started, the music industry got an increase in sales. And then they compain a loss in revenue... aside from the fact that they are STILL getting a huge profit (lets put it this way, economics 101, you don't need profit, all you need to do is even out, but the RIAA and the music industry doesn't understand this). And now they want to copy protect everything, soon we are going to have to copy proect our toasters because it may have the slighest possibility to play an mp3.
