Bad memory?
My mom's computer displayed the memory as 63MB instead of 64MB (now 191MB instead of 192MB after adding 128MB).
I have read that if your computer displays one less than it should, it means the memory chip is bad. Is that true? Also, in the system properties, my laptop displays the processor as 701MHz. It should read 1GHz. Any reason for this? |

1. your video card is stealing ram from the system....
go out and buy a video card...don't buy cheap shit 2. perhaps you got ripped off.... or nobody has set the multiplier and/or front side bus correctly. take the machine back to where you got it and complain them to death |

Thanks for the reply Winamprocker.
1. It is a fairly new Gateway computer. It's part of the Essential series I think - one of those small computers. I wouldn't be surprised if the video card wasn't the best. 2. I didn't mention before, but I've upgraded to XP. I don't remember it saying 701 before. I just noticed it recently. The last time I checked the BIOS, it said it was 1GHz. |
