Hooloovoo

bleah

this is a new skin...
zowwee

it's blue
and metally

there's something about ti I don't quite like, but I dunno what it is...

any suggestions are welcome

btw if you don't know what a Hooloovoo is, it's a super-inteligent shade of blue. go read The Hitch Hiker's Guide to the Galaxy Series by Douglas Adams

oh yesh...there are a few bits of transparency at the top

I like the design, but the colors really stand out from each other. I guess its alright, but in my messed up eyes they dont look right together. But good work, maybe if you made the blue a bit darkerish, and the grey (as surgested) with a darker texture, it mite look better. But then again, its fully up to you, its your skin!

My bad, i looked at it again, and its not the background blue, that looks cool, its the bright blue in some areas. it just shines into my eyes. i think its too bright for that skin. maybe make it a bit dimmer? but whichever, my input

Alright cool. I think it would fit in great if its a dimmer blue. Glad you like my idea tho. And btw... if i ever make a negativish comment about your skins, it doesnt mean i dont like em, just saying my prospective on how to improve them. But dont get mad or anything, do as you like, its your skin, your imagination, and i guess you wouldnt post your works in progress if you arnt ready to recieve a little critisims from me hehe, dont mind me...
and plz post an ss when u got that fixed, this skin i like

I took out the bright blue and added some more cracks
I'm pretty much hating the top right now...I think maybe if I yell and stare at enough it will go away...
until then, any suggests to make it go away faster?

Lets see...*rubs chin* ... i like the blue much more now... doesnt kill my eyes no more...and fits in with the rest. But i do have one sudgestion... the dark blue/purplish background downt exactly blend together with the rocks... the colours are just too far appart to match... if you think so too here are 2 solutions: easiest one:: change the color to a greyish blue, or arround the grey rock shade it from grey to the purple/blue. so its a smooth gradient. Either that, or go Grey for the top layer, and then a blue, with blackish shadows from the rocks... otherwise, looks good. But, thats what i would do... your choice what u wana do...

PS: i got the main done for my 2nd skin. Its darker, and in no way at all resembles the default skin expecting to post it for checking by my hero atmo later next week...hehe

I don't really understand what you mean...

in the bottom left there's a darker blue outlline, kidna like a drop shadow, around the rock/metal/whatever thing...I was gonna do that everywhere else, but I forgot. I'll do it tomarrow...I'm tired...*looks at clock* no wonder I'm tired. good night. *falls over onto keyboard, asleep*

the idea looks great but maybe some drop shadows on from the rock to the blue and a concrete style of textur to the rock would make it stand out a little less and give it a 3d style of effect so that it isn't just sitting on the blue its above the blue sort of thing and looks less like brand ne concrete and more weathered as the cracks in it would imply.just my 2 cents worth but if you was going to make the concrete look older you might have to roughin up the blue a bit to make it looked aged as well.
what programe are you using for your graphic work ?

Hey supey, trully sorry, but im not very good with describing my imagination. Here is what i meant by my idea:

:: Description ::

Here is what I think you should do with the blue. Make it a fairly dark blue, I used '0,1,93' in my example. Then the farther from the 'rocks' the blue gets, the lighter it becomes. The lightest my example was is '4,0,181'. Then use the smudge tool, or if you use MSPain-in-the-ass[t], try make a smooth gradient. Ofcourse this is just a sudgestion of mine witch i think would greatly improve the skin and give it a good defining depth. As i noted before, a third dimension, or anything that resembles it in a skin will get bonus points from me . Your should also work a bit on the rock. The only reason im giving you so much advice is because i think this is seriously my favourite 'main' design. If you could give it some depth, and nice color gradient with all the colors matching up, and finish the rest of the skin with the same design, it will for sure be in my top 10. Dead serious I really hope you finish it and dont skrap it.

G/L Finishing it up!!

piece out!

Nice skin here, Supey - one of your better ones in my tastes. I like the sensible use of transparency and the clean looking design.

this isn't really concerned about your skin, but mspaint skins doesn't really grab much attention [to me], there's something that says words along the lines of mspaint is much like skinner skins, most are.... keep up ur good effort though.

If you don't have texture on the rock, then I think you should at least put anti-aliasing on the cracks. I think that sort of jaggedness is a large part of the reason that people like Peacemaker don't like MSpaint skins.

Well, I'm an MSPaint skinner... I don't try to do hard things like curves and circles, whatnot. I've tried manual anti-aliasing before by studying the skin Genesis upclose in Photoshop. I'm not very good at it, yet, I stick to my strength - MSPaint. I'll keep getting better at it, and soon enough I'll make a skin that'll look like it was made in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro.

yeh painfully slow is mspaint, which leads to boredom quite easily. esp. doing anti-alias work. and in the end, really nothing too flash, so it seems like a long time for nothing much at all. but some people i guess like the old mspaint.. so its not worth argueing about such a small topic.

Yeah, well my first skin was made in Mspaint, and the second partly in MSpaint but mostly in Ultimate paint (which is similar anyway). What shits me about Mspaint is that, when it comes to computer image creation (gee what an exciting term) I cut my teeth on Deluxe Paint 2 - back in the days when 386s were the thing. And it sucks, almost a decade down the track, using something (MSPaint) which is much worse than DeluxePaint was. I did many of the gradients in Saturn in the Wintertime *cough* *link below* *cough* *click the link!* *splutter* by hand in these programs. It's a damn lot of work, and most people would not have the patience for it. That's what separates me from most people, devotion and...no wait, that's not it, it's my sheer idiocy, and their lack of it. I'm moving on to PSP.

Supey, it looks the cracks (do you call them so?) look great...

I only would say that it needs a bit more metal in the titlebar...that's too flat imho..

It's *much* easier with ps/psp...

If I switch over to Photoshop, I'm going to have to learn everything all over again. My creativity is with Paint.. I know what I can do with Paint, and that's what I do. If I switch to Photoshop, I'm going to have to think of new ideas, new styles and new things to make... and an entirely different method of creating skins.

Cleanup if you learned photoshop i think you'd pick it up fairly quickly...2 skins and i'd learned psp's ins and outs so it doesnt take long..

By the way your skins rock, regardless of what program u've made them in..

I'm going to anti-alias the cracks, I just didn't feel like it at the time I made them, so I'll do it later

I think it looked better with the cracks like they were before, they didnt jump out as much, but it still looks ok..

The cbuttons look a little small to me now for some reason or another..

Will be interesting to see how you keep the rock theme going through the eq and playlist...

it's easy...basically just make a gradient of one pixel between the colors you want to anti-alias

sometimes with colors that are way far apart tho it's still jagedy so you either have to make a it more pixels or find a color that works somehow

wow! that really jumped out at me - I love the concept of this one - don't add too many cracks - its quite elegant the way it is

If anyone can find any of the skins I made please email them to Forevever@aol.com
I can't remember all the names but specifically hunting for Lascivious, and DEVOUR (compilation with Jax) and any in the Impulse series which had 6 total. Auriferous, Gilt, Impulse, Nadir, and 2 others I can't remember but you dig.

with the way the EQ is structured it's quite dificult to make it not look uniform

btw, I'm going to get a picture from the book and put it in the blank space between the preamp and other bars

I think the cracks looked better before. To me the style is of an early 90s side-scroller - nice.

The EQ is too uniform and what is going on the rock near shuf/rep?
