Public views on charging for Winamp3

This is an article I found on Betanews, I see winamprocker has said his piece. I just don't get how people could be so stubbern. They just have this attitude that everything on the internet is free and that if one person charges for it then there is always someone willing to give them a free one.

That is exactly the reason why so many programs now have spyware. Developers would do almost anything not to charge inspite of all their hard work. Maybe Alan Groeper could tell us more on that.

Does anyone know if there is consideration for a version with adware as a way of getting some of the additioanl features without charging?
