netscape

I installed the full version of netscape, and have never seen such a thing...it uninstalled all of my aol owned apps and reinstalled it's versions! I don't even remember my aol IM username, password, or whatever to login, didn't think to save those types of things before installing netscape...it unstalled winamp too, reinstalled an older version...at least it left my plugin directory but I'm now downloading the new version again and hoping it didn't corupt too many of the settings I had tweaked to get everything working correctly on my system. This is worse than spyware, and I'm uninstaling it..backing up the plug in directory first though just in case it wipes that clean on install. There is no warning anywhere on the installation that it will do this, I downloaded full only to get the java support which didn't work anyways...which I guess is a rant for another site/forum about how to get java working correctly in XP since microsoft excluded it..even installed it right from the sun site with no luck.

try www.mozilla.org
it's the better netscape

backup your winamp.ini and plugin.ini also, they store the plugin settings

edit: try this site http://www.microsoft.com/java/ for ie and java

Always read the readme before installing new software....

If youre using xp, just use system restore to change everything back to where it was before.

By the way, i use netscape 6.2 as my main browser and have had less problems with it than IE...

I use Netscape 6.2 as my main browser, but because I didn't have my Winamp folder in the normal spot, it didn't do anything to it. and I have also had less problems with Netscape that IE6. the main advantage is that when your browser crashes, and it will crash eventually, Netscape doesn't crash the system, or in the case of XP cause the system to act like you just logged on, like IE6 does

I have never used XP, I have IE6 on my 98 and have never had any problems at all. (no jokes)

I never put anything where it wants to go, then I can cheack folders periodiclly for 'forigen' programs.

I used to love IE6 till something fudged it and caused it to read from the cache instead of looking for new versions of the page.

/me is forced to use netscape for the forums etc.

I really hate netscape. It's slow, and crashes a lot with GPFs and shit. I absoluty love how much faster and more stable IE 6 is. When I had Netscape and IE when I was using WIndows 95, I slowly alternated between the two. Then when I got 98 with IE embedded into the system, I threw out netscape and stuck with IE and I'm still using IE in XP. It's great. Ever since Netscape got bought out by AOL, it's been hell. AOL sucks. We all know that.

I don't mind patching up the holes. It's still better than waiting for-fucking-ever for netscape to load and have it crash a lot. I love IE 6. It's very quick and is much more reliable.

Is there actually a difference between IE5.5 and IE6? I haven't found one. I only installed IE6 because I accidently deleted some files that IE wanted and caused the whole system to get pissed with me.
