Wondering how to Reformat Hard drive.

I was wondering how I would go about reformatting my hard drive, so that I could start anew. aNd I was wondering if I would need a windows installation disk, rather than say, just a boot disk, to restart windows. Any help would be much appreciated.

Well to format, you're going to need a boot disk of some sort. Windows 2000/XP have an option to reformat during the install (if you choose "clean install", instead of "upgrade".

To install Windows again, you will definitely need an install disk.

What version of Windows are you going to install? And is it a retail version, or OEM?

except if you have ntfs partitions

then you have to delete the mfb (the boot sector) of your hard disk
make a fat32 partition.

then full format it....

then full re-format it in ntfs

then install windows 2k/XP

format.exe doesn't work with ntfs formatted hard disks

I'm running an Edition of Windows ME, it came installed on my computer, when I got it. I've got these "System Restoration Disks", there are three of them. I'm going to try to put one in to see what happens. But I don't have another software boot disk that Didn't come with the computer, such as a bought copy of XP, 2000, etc. Thanks for the help so far, anyways. And I don't know wtf FDisk my HDD means. lol.
