I think that civillians should only be allowed to have non-automatic guns which must be over a certain length. This would not hurt the legitimate gun users, but it would make it harder for criminals, as you can't carry a long gun in your pocket.

Ever hear of a sawed-off shotgun? A determined criminal will always find a way. And a lot of sport shooting is done with handguns. Heck, there are even handguns designed to bring down big game.

A POST OFFICE robber has been jailed for six and a half years.

Phillip Parker armed himself with a grease gun and wrapped it in a carrier bag before confronting shop worker Ann Peacock at an Essex sub-post office and general store.

Mrs Peacock later told police she thought the raider was carrying a gun and handed over £660 before Parker, of Saffron Walden, drove off.

Seems they will go to any extreme of stupidity!

I live out in the country. One day I forgot to disarm the motion sensor in the house when I left. My cat set the alarm off, and it took the police over 45 minutes to respond. A lot of shit can go down in 45 minutes. If somebody breaks into my house, they're not getting back out. Simple as that.

i have no desire to own a gun, but i think that as an american, i should have the right to own a gun for hunting/protection. even though i dont want a gun, i support my right to have one.

Correct- just this week Iceland, although remote, still part of the "enlightened" free west, banned the Falun Gong religion- a step china made many years ago. Banning a religion is easily first step towards tyranny.
