What !! No EQ

can i have some thoughts on EQ (less) skins.

i have done 2 and the attachment is the latest (unfinished)

if the skin has a pic that is better for the skin when its totally shown, do people mind not having an EQ. i personally have 1 setting for my eq and it never changes?

just wondering

This looks nice this way, but remember that a lot of people actually use the EQ.

So you could add a extra BMP, with eq-sliders, just name it in your tekst file

myself i like skins that don't have eq sliders when used witha picture because i use the auto-set presets so they change with all my mp3's but from a reviewers point of view they are bad because they don't have the functionality of a skin with them i came to a compromise with one of my skins, i cropped the bmp so that the slidres could be moved but they were only 2 pixels high and ended up leaving multiple copies around the skin, but if i used the f5 key after i moved a slider it worked fine,

I like skins with NO eq's, I've done several myself, I rarely change the EQ settings so not really bothered either way.

A trick you can do is to put in some markers where the EQ bars might be, good trick if your doing picture skins, for example....

to be honest I don't like skins without eq bars. It looks better for sure and I hardly ever use the eq, but I like to have "complete" skins, ie to be able to see where that and this component is supposed to be. AND eq-less skins look crappy in xmms

I try to include them.

I don't mess with the eq settings, but if they aren't there, what is the point of having the eq window? Then it is just there to give you more space to put a picture. That said, that is a really nice skin snowwoof. Well done.

cool looking skin Snowwoof, nice job

personnally i prefer to have the EQ bars cos i do use them, but some skins definitely look better without them. i guess it's the old question of looks vs. functionality.

that's a nice skin
I only use the presets in the eq, but I like skins with bars cuz I like playing with the animations(if they have any)

It looks great, but without eq sliders it would take away from the functionality quite a bit. I dont see any way you could include them though.

Without the sliders it wouldnt be something i'd use often, but i'd have this skin in my collection for sure.

I will never download a skin without the EQ bars, I care too much about the sound quality of my music. If I listened to only one type of music on one type of media or format (like only 128bps MP3 for example), then I could probably just set the EQ once and never change it. But I listen to all sorts of music on CD as well as MP3s of various bitrates, so a skin without EQ bars for me is severely crippled.

However, although most people here prefer EQ bars like me, I've seen this question raised at 1001, and many people there said they didn't mind skins which didn't have EQ bars.

That's not strictly true...

XMMS is a media player for Linux, that looks and behaves a lot like winamp, and can use winamp skins....

This is Winamp for Linux
