Station List in Winamp3

I notice that the winamp3 built in
station selector only appears to
download 300 stations, (inwhich
list my own does not appear to appear).

I was wondering how one goes about getting
onto the slope of that level playing field.

Hmmm.

I think you have to be the in the top 300 stations.

Top 300?

Many of the stations in the list
are much smaller than mine in max
listener numbers, so it seems that
being in the top 300 is not it.

Perhaps I am given to be mistaken,
though.

That would be a good explaination
for this curiousity.

Perhaps Tom knows?

Hmmmm

In that case, I should be listed.
Heh.

I suppose it would not become a real
issue until winamp3 is formally released,
and while I understand it is not reasonable
to download the complete list of servers,
I can only wonder why a genre based download
was not used instead, to gather all stations
in one genre at a time, like shoutamp, or
like the shoutcast showcase.

Even 300 stations at once is a hell of a
mess to wade through. I think the built
in station selector in winamp is what can
make or break shoutcast radio, as it is the
final hurdle to making net radio as easy to
"tune" in to as terra radio, and I remain
surprised that this feature was not implemented
in winamp2.x, and is not more effective in winamp3
than it presently appears... but at least it
has been included in winamp3.

You should check out QCD and this plugin which has a nice "Filter" feature that allows you to easily find the station you want... it still won't have your station listed though. Sorry
